Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you once again for giving us this opportunity to minister God's word and to spend a few moments in prayer. This week, we've been looking at various aspects on knowledge and what it means to walk in the knowledge and the wisdom of God. Today, we will look at set high on a rock. Psalms chapter 27 and verse 5, ‘In the day of trouble, He will keep me safe in His dwelling. He will hide me in the shelter of His sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.’ Today's image of the rock describes the life we live when we align ourselves with God. The psalmist here has found himself in a life-threatening situation. Terrible things are happening around him and yet his request is simple - to dwell with God and to enjoy the beauty of the Lord. Imagine this, that after expressing that desire, the Psalms resounds with conviction that God will provide His best protection: shelter, safety, and His providence. To conceal and to set high on a rock seem like opposites. We can ask this question, wouldn't it mean being high on a rock expose a person to danger? Not necessarily. In this situation, God gives the gift of perspective. From the position of being high on a rock, the psalmist can see approaching danger and won't be caught off guard. It is a strategic advantage to be in that place of security. God also provides shelter to make the psalmist less vulnerable to attack. God does not merely rescue His people; He establishes them on firm foundation. David begins by saying, "In the times of trouble." Notice he does not say that trouble will not come. But even faithful believers experience trials, delays, oppositions, emotional struggles, and many other things. David spent many years running away from King Saul, hiding in caves, facing dangers constantly, yet, despite of the chaos that was around him, God preserved him, God saved him, and God made him become the king of Israel. Throughout scripture, the rock symbolizes strength and permanence. In the New Testament, Christ is revealed as a spiritual rock. When life feels unstable, Jesus remains unchanging. A life rooted in Christ may face storms, but that person will not collapse. To be set high on a rock also speaks of spiritual elevation. An eagle does not fight every storm; it rises above the storm and the current and it just begins to soar higher. This does not mean that problems disappear instantly, it means that God changes the spiritual position. Instead of living beneath in fear, he raises them up to stand above in faith. Before elevation comes, intimacy is important. Sometimes we want public victory without private surrender. God strengthens those who remain close to Him in that secret place. Moses spent time in God's presence in Mount Sinai before leading the people of Israel effectively. Private encounters with God produce public strength. The higher God lifts you, the deeper your dependence on God must become. While our circumstances may not change, it is possible for God to put our feet on solid ground so that even when those storms come, even when those dangers surround us, our feet are firmly rooted in the word of God and who He is. It is in that place we can be strong, take heart, and wait for the Lord. Let's pray, Father, we thank you for your word and we thank you that you have promised that you have set us on a rock and we pray that no matter what circumstances, challenges and mountains that we may face, that our feet will be firm and steady knowing that you are with us, we thank you, in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
