Shalom, it is a wonderful opportunity to join you here on another series of Living Supernaturally. We
trust and hope that through this week, we’re going to be learning some important truths. This week, we
are going to be looking at kingdom parables. The kingdom parables are a series of parables that is
recorded in scripture that Jesus taught to reveal the mysteries of the kingdom of God. These parables
use every day imageries. Jesus taught from things that were present in His culture and time so that it
would be relatable as well as something to learn from and that is what we are going to be looking at.
Even though we are referring back to what Jesus spoke about with these everyday imageries, we still
believe that it communicates a whole lot of truth for us. We will be looking at a few parables through
this week to understand some of the truths about the kingdom of God. Today’s devotional is taken from
the parable of the weeds which we do find in Mathew chapter 13. In this parable, Jesus describes a man
who sowed good seed in his field. While the menservants slept, an enemy comes in and sows in weeds
among the wheat. As both began to grow, the servants noticed that there were both the weeds and
wheat and asked the man of they should uproot it. The man refused and instructed them to wait till
harvest and then he said the weeds and the wheat could then be separated. The wheat being gathered
into the burn and the weeds to be thrown. This is what we read in Mathew chapter 13, verse 30, ‘Let
both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather
together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.’ What
can we understand about the kingdom from this parable? We see that God’s kingdom will flourish
amidst evil, His kingdom will continue to grow even if there is evil but He will ultimately bring justice and
separate the righteous from the wicked at the appointed time. So, we know that justice will prevail.
Jesus wants that while God’s kingdom advances, the enemy which is satan is actively trying to sow
confusion, sin and deception. Sometimes, this presence of evil may seem very overwhelming. Yet, God
in His wisdom, chooses not to remove it immediately, instead, He allows both the wheat which is the
righteous and the weed which is the wicked to grow together until the time of harvest which is a picture
of the final judgement. For believers, this parable encourages us to remain faithful despite the presence
of evil. Ultimately, this parable assures us that though evil may seem to thrive now, God’s kingdom will
prevail and His justice will be perfectly fulfilled. While evil may seem to flourish for now, the final victory
belongs to God. Our role is to trust Him, to live faithfully and continue to extend His love to those still
lost. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, from what we hear and know from this parable, teach us to
have our eyes focused on you knowing that justice will one day prevail, that you are sovereign above all
that happens here on this earth and Lord your kingdom will come and justice will rule. Thank you,
Father, for the hope that you have given us, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
