Greetings and thank you for joining us today. It's our privilege to come to you and spend a few moments in the word and in prayer. This Christmas week, we're doing something different. We're looking at the Lord Jesus and looking at Him from the perspective of Him being our role model, Him being our example, somebody that we are to grow into. We're looking at His earthly life and just highlighting a few characteristics, things that you and I should pursue in our own life's journey. Yesterday, we talked about how Jesus grew in spiritual wisdom and so must we. Today, I want to bring our attention to the fact that the Lord Jesus grew or He demonstrated devotion to the Father. He walked in His submission, in His deep relationship and His obedience to the Father. He prioritized that kind of a way of life, a life of devotion. The Bible tells us and this is just one of the many statements Jesus made in John chapter 8, verse 29. Jesus said, "He who sent me is with me. The Father has not left me alone, for I always do those things that please Him." So, you notice what Jesus prioritized, a life of devotion to the Father. And He said, "I want to do those things that really please the Father." So, He was living His life from that place of consecration, of obedience and of devotion to the Father. He said, ‘I want to do everything that I do; I want to do whatever is pleasing to the Father.’ So, the invitation for you and me is to become like this heavenly man, to bear the image of Jesus Christ, to be conformed into His likeness. And part of it is walking as He walked and it involves living a life of devotion to the Father, where everything we do comes from this perspective. Is it pleasing to the Father? Is it expressing how much I love my Father in heaven? How much I am committed and devoted to Him? How much I'm consecrated to Him? Everything I do, is it coming from that place because Jesus said He lived like that. He said, I always do those things that please the Father. So, can we pursue that same kind of devotion as we look at Jesus and make Him our example and our role model? The things we do day to-day at home, with our family, with our children, in our workplace or with our peers in our school, our college and all these situations or settings. Can we make it a choice that whatever we say and do will be pleasing to our heavenly Father? That truly expresses our devotion to Him. Not just when we pray or when we are in church in the congregation worshiping but in our daily living, we're expressing our deep commitment to the Father. Let's do that and let's pray, Father, we ask that you help us live as Christ lived and be imitators of Jesus. Help us to live our daily life out of a place of deep devotion to you, seeking always to do those things that are pleasing to you. Help us, Father, we pray, in Jesus' name, Amen.
