Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Jehoshaphat (Daily Devotional)

by Ps Jeyakumar Isaiah

Hello and welcome to Living Supernaturally, the daily devotional of All Peoples Church. We are glad that you could be here even as we study the word of God. We have been studying about the lives of some people in the Old Testament and what learning we can gleam from their lives. Today, we are going to look at the life of King Jehoshaphat and we se this is 2 Chronicles chapter 17, verses 3 to 7, we read about what kind of person Jehoshaphat was, it says here, ‘Now the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the former ways of his father David.’ Which meant that Jehoshaphat was a worshipper, he was pursuing God, was single minded, was seeking God and he wanted to honor God in all his ways. It says, ‘he did not seek the Baals, but sought the God of his father, and walked in His commandments and not according to the acts of Israel.’ So, he was different from what was happening around or from his predecessors. It says here, ‘the LORD established the kingdom in his hand.’ We see that he was a man after Gods own heart, he was pursuing God and he didn’t follow the ways of his predecessors. In verse 6 it says, ‘And his heart took delight in the ways of the LORD.’ It was not something like a religious duty but he delighted in the Lord and that delighting in the Lord and his ways moved him to do something, he removed the high places, certain ways, traditions which were there and which were contrary to God’s way which God was displeased with. So, his delighting with the Lord didn’t stop there but moved him to act on behalf of the Lord and he dismantled the high places and the wooden images form Judah. Not only that, Jehoshaphat did something else, he sent his leaders into the land to teach them the law of the Lord. Scripture testifies that they went throughout all the cities and taught the people the law of the Lord. What happened as a result of that was that the neighboring kingdoms, there was a fear of the Lord and they feared the people, because they now knew the way of the Lord and they were ordering their lives according to the law of the Lord. We learn some of these lessons from Jehoshaphat. We also know what Jehoshaphat is famous for and we see that in 2 Chronicles chapter 2, verse 20, that he was a radical man and when there was an army/ enemy coming against him, he did something, he consulted the Lord, he listened to the word of the Lord through the prophets and he did something very radical and that is something that we are going to see now. 2 Chronicles chapter 20 and verses 21 and 22, ‘And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the LORD, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: “Praise the LORD, For His mercy endures forever.” He did something very radical; he placed the praise and worship team before the army and they went out declaring praise to God and we see that as they did that, the Lord set up ambushes and this army of Jehoshaphat, they won a great victory that day, the Lord won the victory for them. So, as we learn this, we see that this is something that we can follow and apply in our own lives. Shall we pray? Father, we thank you for the lessons that we learn from the life of king Jehoshaphat. We thank you for you have called us to pursue you singularly and leave the empty ways of our forefathers, you have called us to delight ourselves in your name, in your law and ways and that moves us to action, to do something, to dismantle the work of the enemy in our lives and in the lives of those around. We pray that we will be worshippers moving into warfare in worship and seeing your hand move and do great things in our lives. We thank you; we give you all the praise and glory, in Jesus’s matchless name we pray, Amen.
