Greetings and thank you once again for the opportunity to come to you today and spend some time in the word of God and in prayer with you. This week, we have been talking about money, just mediating the scriptures on what God has taught us and instructed us concerning money. Today, I want to bring our attention to the fact that God wants us to invest our money wisely. As God blesses us with wealth, with riches, possessions and as He begins to prosper our lives, He has taught us in His word, what He wants us to do. One of the things we see in scripture, and I will just reference few scriptures on this, is that He wants us to invest our money wisely. When we talk about investing, it seems very complicated but actually it is very simple. What we are doing is, we are making our money work for us. There is money that we use to cover expenses and immediate needs, but when we have extra/ surplus money what do you do with it? There are several things you can do with it, and we will see that in scripture. One of the things that we do is, with extra money, you make that money work for you, so money is like your servant, it goes out there and it does work for you. In order to make that happen, we need to invest it, that means you put it in a place where it can work for you. There are many ways that we can invest but I want to bring this truth to us that God wants us to invest because some Christians think it is a wrong thing to invest because they say Jesus said don’t store up money for yourselves here on earth, where moth and things corrupt it, but put your treasures in heaven, that is true but what do you do with what you here on earth? In Luke chapter 19, when you look at the parable of the talent, Jesus in that story talks about this man, He refers to him as lord who gives certain amounts of money to three different people and goes away. What was his expectation? He expected them to multiply it, do something with that amount that was given and increase it. He commended the first two people; they multiplied what was given to them. But for the third person, he just kept it, he kept it so safe that it didn’t increase even a little bit and he gave back the same amount to the master. What did the master do? He rebuked him strongly and said in Luke chapter 19 and verse 23, Why then did you not put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’ He was saying at least you should have put my money to work, in some place where it could grow, put my money in the bank, so it could get some interest. Why was this man rebuked? Because he did not make that money grow. This is a literal story, and we must understand the motivation here. It is not just talking about spiritual gifts, but whatever God has entrusted you with. There are many ways to make it grow, talk to somebody who can advise you how to do it. Remember the scriptures say in Proverbs chapter 13, verse 22, ‘A good man/ righteous/ spiritual man leaves an inheritance to his children's children.’ That means he has made his money grow so much more that he can pass on something even to his grandchildren. Let’s pray, Father, we pray that you would give us wisdom to invest what you have given to us wisely, to make it grow so that we can bless our generations after us, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
