Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you once again for this opportunity to minister God’s word and spend a few moments in prayer. This week, we’ve been looking at qualities of leadership and today, we end this week with two important qualities- integrity and sincerity. 2 Timothy chapter 1, verse 3, ‘I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day.’ Spiritual integrity is the combination of state and quality. It is the state of being undivided together with the quality of being brutally self-honest. This news media churns up stories of all kinds of people doing bad things. Are there any people who walk with integrity anymore? What does integrity in a person look like? Nehemiah knew some people that he could trust to do the right thing. He had observed Hananiah and his work as commander of the citadel. Nehemiah chapter 7, verse 2 says, that Hananiah was a man of integrity and feared God more than most people do. Nehemiah had seen Hananiah’s spiritual life in action giving evidence to godly, discerning leadership and a heart willing to serve the Lord. Hananiah feared God more than most people do. In other words, his every day life showed great respect for God as his savior and king. He accepted that he was small and God was sovereign over his life and that is what integrity looks like. Jesus is our model for integrity. His life matched His character and being, maybe that is why people flocked to Him. He was different from the teachers of the law and other religious leaders. Jesus was who He was, inside and out. Integrity for Jesus was to show what God was like, truth and grace wrapped up in human package. The focus of integrity is God who knows our hearts and He is the ultimate judge. The currency of integrity is our word. We do what we say, our word is our bond. Our faithfulness to God, our family, our mission and our lifestyle also is a part of our integrity. The inner gauge of integrity is our conscience, that still small voice speaking loudly when we cross boundaries. The voice of integrity is how we perform our jobs and do in our lives. Paul reminds us in 2 Timothy that spiritual victories are not gained overnight, there are no quick fix solutions. The need to have resilience of a soldier, the patience of a farmer and the ability not to get bogged down with the entangled civilian affairs are foundational to a spiritual leader and to integrity and sincerity. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for your word and these two attributes that are made available for us - integrity and sincerity. Even as we walk our Christian life, we thank you for all the attributes that we spoke of in this week. We pray that we will begin to develop these abilities, walking in good attitudes to build your kingdom. We give you all the praise and glory, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
