Shalom and we are so glad that you could join us together to meditate on God’s word. I pray that this series on responding to adversity is encouraging you even as you may be facing your own affliction and hardship. Through the last two days, we’ve looked into the life of Joseph, through his events of afflictions and adversity and learning and mediating about how he responded to adversity. Today, we see of how even in the midst of adversity, we must operate in integrity, being integral, having integrity even amidst adversity. Jospeh was one who showed integrity in the midst of adversity. We saw yesterday about how Joseph was in the house of Potiphar and we see how Potiphar made this young slave, Joseph, the overseer of his entire household. Jospeh supervised everything there. He supervised Potiphar’s servants, he probably handled public relations, oversaw finances and was even responsible for the entire household. As we read that account, we see all that Jospeh touched as blessed and even after being sold into slavery, you would now think that his life was made but this is where the next tryst of affliction happens. Potiphar’s wife makes advances at Jospeh but we read that he refuses these advances because of the powerful set of convictions that he has, which he learned by being in the presence of God. We see that Jospeh responds with integrity because he knew that his integrity couldn’t be compromised. He stands up against Potiphar’s wife and refuses to violate the trust that his master has put over him, and more importantly, seize the implication of the integrity that he needs to have towards God. What do we see from Jospeh’s response here? That the integrity of our faith and character is what truly stands amid life’s storms, just as it did for Moses. Even through this instance, Jospeh models a life of integrity, even in times of adversity. He stood for what God had called him to do, to stand true in God’s word. So, today, as we face our affliction, there maybe temptations that come our way, let’s learn from Jospeh to respond in integrity even amidst our adversities. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you for teaching us that even in the midst of whatever hardships we go through, you desire that we live a life of faith and conduct and righteousness, that we will have integrity, we will be so set on the convictions of your word over our lives. We pray that you would guard us against every evil, every temptation that may come our way and give us the victory that we need to stay true to you even in the midst of hardships, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
