Shalom, we're so glad that you have joy us for a new series of Living Supernaturally. This is the time that we look into God's word, focus on a specific topic and learn further about it. In today's devotional and the days ahead, we're going to look at what it means to be an instrument in God's hands. What does it mean to be an instrument in God's hands? God desires each of us to be His instruments in order to fulfill His purpose and His plan. So, just like a musician who places skillfully in order to create beautiful music, God wants to work in and through us to bring His light, to bring His love, to bring His purposes around. We're going to look at what it really means to be an instrument in God's hands. So, we see that God does not look for the most talented, the most qualified, the most influential person but He looks for those who have a willing heart. A willing heart is the foundation of being an instrument in God's hands. We read about Isaiah who had a divine encounter with God and God called him out for a mission and this was a mission where He wanted Isaiah to tell people about Him. We read that people rejected his message. God also reveals that his task would be difficult but yet we see that Isaiah was ready to proclaim the message of God to a people who would not listen and not repeat. Yet, we see that Isaiah was willing to go as a messenger of God. We read this in Isaiah chapter 6 and verse 8, ‘then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “here am I! Send me.”’ Having a willing heart to be an instrument in God's hands means to be open, to be available and to be obedient to God's call. It would also mean surrendering our own desires, our own aspirations, our plans, and actively seeking to serve God in whatever He wants us to do. So, what is a willful heart do? A willful heart like we see in Isaiah, responds to God's call. We see Isaiah did not ask for details, he did not wait to feel qualified, he simply said, ‘here am I, send me.’ We often want to know details; we want to know right from the beginning till the end before we can say yes. But a willing heart trust that if God calls, He will equip. A truly willing heart does not seek after its own agenda but is surrendered to the purposes of God. Often our personal ambitions sometimes come within as an obstacle to follow God. To be an instrument in God's hands, we must learn to set aside our own agenda. So, Isaiah didn't ask what the mission was or he didn’t check of whether he had the right qualifications, he simply said, ‘here am I.’ God isn't looking for everything to be perfect in us but He wants us to be willing and willingness must come from within us and because we make the choice to be willing. Let's pray together, Heavenly Father, we pray for willing hearts to follow after things that you want us to do. Lord, for us to be an instrument in your hands, to be effective in your hands, to do your purposes, we pray that you will mold our hearts to be willing. Thank you for hearing our prayers, in Jesus’ name, Amen. Thank you for tuning in to living supernaturally, for more resources to strengthen your spiritual walk, please visit apcwo.org.
