Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Shalom and hope you are having a good day. We’ve been looking at some examples of obedience through this week and we hope that it has really convicted us of how we need to walk our lives of obedience. In today’s devotion, we are going to be looking at Mary who exhibited humble obedience. Luke chapter 1, verse 38 reads, ‘Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.’ Mary’s story is a familiar story to us. She was a young woman from Nazareth when the angel of the Lord came to her and thrust her into the center of God’s redemptive plan for mankind. Her response to the news that the angel bought reveals a heart of faith, humility and submission. We also see that her example of obedience was coming from a place of trust. Mary’s life took that unexpected turn with the announcement of the angel. Being told that you are going to bear God’s son is probably one of the monumental things that could have happened. Yet, even in the midst of this shock, we see Mary’s faith really shining brightly. Mary’s reply, ‘I am the Lord’s servant’ is just not an acknowledgment of who God is but it is a statement of submission, it signified her willingness to align to what God’s will was, regardless of what the probable cost could have been. Mary’s obedience wasn’t based on an understanding of what would have happened later, it was rooted in her faith that God was good and His plan also was good. Even her question in Luke chapter 1, verse 34, ‘how will this be?’ wasn’t one of doubt but it was of seeking understanding that demonstrated a heart that was really eager to cooperate with the plan of God. Humble obedience of Mary really set the course for the rest of her life. She witnessed Jesus’s miracle, standing at the foot of the cross and she probably never understood what her initial yes could have meant but it embraced joy, pain, wonder but it was all intertwined with the knowledge that God’s plan and purpose was for sure. Mary’s response to God’s call actually challenges us. There may be many disruptions, unexpected turns in our lives, are we willing to say as Mary said, may your word to me be fulfilled? Are we prepared to trust God wholeheartedly even when we don’t understand what His plans maybe? Are we willing to submit with humility? Are we willing to yield to Him to what He has called us for? May the life of Mary and the obedience she showed, may it cultivate in us a heart of obedience that is ready to do as God desires us to do even though it may be difficult. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you for yet another account where we saw Mary yielding humbly to you, submitting all of her understanding to you. We pray even when you call us that we will be in humble submission to you, that we would obey because we know that your will and your purpose always stands. Thank you for teaching us through these lives about what you desire from us, we ask this in your precious name, Amen.
