Shalom and welcome to another episode of Living Supernaturally. We hope and trust that you are enjoying God’s word as we have been mediating on it together. In this series, we are looking at the truth of God’s word, especially for the youth, and Jeremy and I, have been searching scripture and understanding some thoughts and concerns that one would have as a young person and for today’s thought I’m handing it over to Jeremy
Jeremy: Many things in our lives don’t give us the joy or the happiness that we wished that they would, like friends maybe disappointing at times, careers and things that we want to pursue seem like they take forever, and material things also don’t give us the lasting happiness that we want them to, many things also promise that they will give lasting happiness but they only last for a very short time and it confuses me where we can find this lasting happiness.
Jean: Even Solomon, had this quest in looking for things where he would see joy or happiness or a lasting fulfilment. The many things that he looked into was probably amusement, pleasure, security and love but Solomon was a man of wisdom and at the end he talks about everything to be meaningless and vanity except one thing that he talks about. I want to read that scripture for you, in Ecclesiastes chapter 12 and verse 1, it says, ‘Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, Before the difficult days come, And the years draw near when you say, “I have no pleasure in them”.’ As a young person, it is true that there are a lot of opportunities your way, they are in fact limitless and you have that vigor and strength to do so many things that may seem fulfilling but what we see here is that setting your heart on different kinds of pleasure often tends to be very meaningless except for this one thing of knowing your creator, honoring the one who created you. God has given you this time and this age to explore so many things but even in the midst of it, to understand that not all of them are bad but to know that the foundation of all of that you are exploring comes from God, from your Creator. When you recognize God as your creator, you are submitting everything of life to Him, all of that you wanted to, it could be your career, your relationships, your friends, it could be things that you are doing, when you submit that to Him, He charts/ shows you the way ahead. So, what is the thought here? It is to recall the presence of God, to stay in the presence of God on a daily basis, it is to live in a constant relationship with Him and to also seek and discover the purposes and the plans that He has for you. In the midst of all that you are doing, you are seeking to discover God’s will and what is the joy that He has for you. So, to encourage you to be in a place of remembering and honoring your creator in everything that you do.
Shall we pray together? Heavenly Father, we thank you, that you as our creator know everything about us. You are the one who charts each and every aspect of our lives. Lord, even as we do things in this season, in this world and in this life, we pray that we will look at you as our source, that we will honor you and that we will remember you, as our creator and as our sovereign Lord. Thank you because you chart everything in our lives for your good and for your purposes, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
