Hello and welcome back to Living Supernaturally. We've been journeying and looking at God's word and trying to apply God's word in our lives, the truth of God's word and experiencing the power of God's word in our lives. We've been looking at the response of the some of the people we see in the Bible and how they responded to the call of God or the voice of God saying, ‘here I am’. Today, we are going to look at the life of Samuel. Now in 1 Samuel chapter 3 verses 1 to 10, we see this incident where God calls out to Samuel. The Bible says that the word of the Lord was rare in those days and Samuel was in the temple with Eli being trained and being mentored for the work of the Lord in the tabernacle of the Lord where the ark of the Lord was. Now Samuel was about to sleep and he lay down and he was about to rest. He hears the voice of God calling out his name but he doesn't recognize it as God's voice. He goes to Eli and this happens a couple of times and Eli says "The next time you hear the voice call your name, you say, ‘here I am Lord’. So, this is what Samuel does and as it happened a couple of times, the Lord speaks to him and calls out his name, ‘Samuel, Samuel’ and Samuel responds and he says, ‘here I am, speak for your servant hears.’ He makes himself available and he says speak for your servant hears. So, the times before Samuel responded by saying ‘here I am’ but he went to Eli and he did not know who actually had called him. And here right now in this instance he says, speak for your servant hears. The Lord instructs Samuel and begins to unravel and speak to Samuel what is going to happen in the land of Israel, what is going to happen to the sons of Eli and he brings his word. Several things happen after that and we see in this chapter that Samuel was established as a prophet of God and the Lord did not let any of the words that Samuel spoke fall to the ground; in the sense He brought it to pass. So, He established Samuel as a prophet. The call of God was established in Samuel's life. And so even today, maybe God is calling your name and maybe you're not recognizing it as God calling you, but today as we respond to the call of God with a wholehearted ‘here I am Lord’, speak for your servant hears, may the Lord reveal His plan and purpose for our lives. Shall we pray? Father, we thank you that as you did in the life of Samuel, as you started him out on his prophetic ministry, we pray may it be so in our lives. As we respond wholeheartedly, as we yield ourselves to your plan and purpose and we say "Here I am Lord, speak for your servant hears”, we pray that you would speak in a way that we can hear and understand and receive. Even as we do so Lord, I pray the call of God, your call, your plan, your purpose may it be made strong, the mission that you have for us, may we embark on it and live it to fulfill your plan and purpose for our lives, we thank you, in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
