Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Ps Jeyakumar Isaiah
Hello and welcome back to Living Supernaturally. We are so glad that you could join us on this daily devotion of All People's church. The word of God is interesting and when we study, we look at certain ways in which God calls out to people and the way people responded to God and when we study it and when we apply it in our own lives, we see that our life is lifted up and taken to a higher realm in God, we are able to truly live life supernaturally. Today, we are going to look at the call of God to certain people and how they responded. Typically, they said, ‘here I am Lord.’ So, we're going to look at the life of Abraham and this is in Genesis chapter 22. Now as we know, Abraham and his wife Sarah, they were without a son, without a child for many years; Sarah was barren, the Bible says. The word of the Lord came and He promised them an heir and He promised them descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky. And so, he received that but then 25 years had passed and there was still no sign of the promise ever happening. Then it happened, Abraham received the promised child, Isaac. So, after that Isaac is grown up and in Genesis chapter 22, we see that God calls Abraham and Abraham responds by saying "Here I am." God says something very unusual, He says in verse 2 of Genesis chapter 22, ‘then He said, "Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you." Very unusual- the Lord is the one who promised, the Lord is the one who gave the promise and the promise came to fruition and now, after all those years when Isaac is grown up and here comes this unusual instruction from God. In response to his, ‘here I am Lord’ this is what he receives. It is a test, Abraham goes ahead, obeys God implicitly and he gets to experience something because he obeyed God. He gets to experience the covenant name of God as Jehovah Jireh, the one who provides and he also experiences the hand of God, the God who promised, the God who saved, the God who assured him that He is with him. He experienced all this because he answered and said "Here I am Lord." In response to our answer, there is something that God has for us. God is always good and He brings about good things in our lives. So, let's pray today. Even as we pray, what is the Lord asking of you? Is it a test of faith? Just go ahead and obey and the Lord will bring things to pass good things because He is good. Let's pray, Father, we thank you Lord, even as we respond to your call and say "Here I am” just as Abraham did. Maybe it's a test of faith but even as we continue on in faith Lord knowing who has called us, knowing that it is you who promised, knowing it is you who brings promises to fulfillment and knowing fully well that the end that you intend for us is to give us a hope and a future. And when we obey, on the other side of our obedience, we thank you that there are good things that you want to bring into our lives. We thank you that there are doors that you want to open and ask us to step into. Lord, we pray that it'll be so today in each one of our lives we give you thanks, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
