Shalom and welcome to another episode of our series on emotions through the living supernaturally. We looked at emotions being a gift from the Lord, today, we are going to be discovering how we need to guard the passion of our emotions. There may be many times in our lives, when we are facing hard emotions and we sometimes think we can avoid them, or we could just keep it aside. But we do see that a lot of times these emotions don't go away, they do come back in the form of stress. There are sometimes that we suppress, or we deny some of the emotions that we may be feeling, especially the hard emotions that we may be going through. But we do find that it does surface out at another point of time, when an original situation where we've been hurt, or we've been sad does come up. So, denying our emotions often leads us to further trouble. There are times that we stifle our emotions, stifling our emotions isn't a very healthy thing for our spiritual health. When we stifle our emotions, it often leads to an emotional burst, or it creates certain havoc in the way that we experience life. Emotions sometimes are also minimized or ignored; we do not pay attention to what may be going on inside of us. There are times we control our emotions, sometimes when we control our emotions, it leads to addiction, we take away our focus on what we're feeling inside and tend to replace it on something that is outside, be it drugs, be it alcohol or money or any other form of addictions and we do find that addictions at times may make us feel better temporarily, but in the long term begins to numb our emotions. Scripture is very clear that we should not allow our feelings to be suppressed. Ephesians chapter 4 and verses 26 to 27 says, ‘but don't let the passion of your emotions lead you to sin! Don't let anger control you or be fuel for revenge, not for even a day. Don't give the slanderous accuser, the devil an opportunity to manipulate you! Verse 26 in other versions says, ‘Don't let the sun go down in your anger.’ In other words, it says don't suppress your anger, rather deal with it quickly. The same truth applies for any emotion that you may be going through. Ephesians chapter 4 and verse 27 says that when we do not deal with anger or any other similar negative emotion, we are opening the door for the devil. The devil has a strong foothold in us. And any time when we allow these emotions to build inside of us, we are in danger of becoming overwhelmed. Jesus invites you and me to give our weary hearts to Him. Matthew chapter 11 and verse 28 says, ‘come unto me all you who are weary.’ So, Jesus invites us to bring our broken emotions before God. You and I can be authentic before God and express what we are going through. Let's not forget that Jesus is familiar with all the emotional pains that this world throws our way. He reminds us that He cares for us. So today, if you are struggling with any emotion that you've kept suppressed, remember Jesus calls out to you and invites you to rest in Him. Let's pray together, Heavenly Father, we are immensely privileged to know that you care for us and that you call out for us. Thank you, because you take our weary hearts and give us joy instead. May we take the courage to give you all of our emotions and replace it for your joy, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
