Welcome to Living Supernaturally. We're glad that we could study God's word together and we're
looking at God's word and looking at His promises. God's word, the Bible is full of promises. Somebody
counted and said that God's promise to man could number maybe upwards of 7,000, more than 7,000
promises. So, God is not just a promise maker but He's also a promise keeper, the one who brings these
promises to pass. So, today we are looking at one such promise that He gives to the Israelites and it's
relevant for us today as well. We are looking at Jeremiah chapter 29 and verse 11, it says, ‘for I know the
thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future
and a hope.’ The Lord says, I know the thoughts that I think towards you, thoughts of peace, not of evil
to give you a hope and a future. Now this promise was spoken by God to the Israelites through the
prophet Jeremiah, when the Israelites were exiled in Babylon. So, they were unable to come back to
their native land, they were oppressed, maybe not given enough freedom, not having the liberty and the
freedom and their rights, looked down upon as second-class citizens, as slaves even and in such
circumstances, comes this promise- the word of the Lord to the Israelites that is so encouraging and
lifegiving. Despite their suffering and circumstances, God assures them that His ultimate plan for them is
good. And it gives them hope, it gives them hope for restoration, it gives them hope that yes, that they
will come out of this difficult situation, that they will come out of this exile and they will be re reunited
with others in their land. So, the Lord says I know the thoughts that I think towards you. So, we can
receive this promise for ourselves and say Lord, you are not a God who changes, your word is the same
yesterday, today and forever, your character, your nature is to bless, is to give people hope and comfort
and so God we can say, we receive this promise for ourselves and say, even as you say Lord, the
thoughts that you have for me, the thoughts that you think towards me is not thoughts of evil but
thoughts of peace or shalom, thoughts to bring shalom into my life, to give me a future, to give me a
hope. Like the very thoughts that He has for us, the very thoughts that He thinks towards us are good
thoughts. In fact, in John chapter 10, the Lord Jesus says that I have come that you might have life and
life in its fullness. So, even as we pray today, may we pray in faith and expect God to do great things, to
bring His promise to pass. Shall we pray? Father, we thank you Lord that you are the promise keeper.
We thank you for the promise that the very thoughts that you have for us are good thoughts, thoughts
of peace and not of evil, to give us a future, to give us a hope. Lord, we pray especially for those who are
in hopeless situations, for those who do not have any hope of a good future, Lord, for such we pray and
intercede right now, let this promise be true, even as you are true, you are the way the truth and the
life. I pray that you will bring this word to pass in their lives Lord. May this word be an be our experience
for each one of us. We thank you; we give you all the praise and glory, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
