Hello and welcome to Living Supernaturally. We're so glad that you could be here with us even
as we study God's word. As we study God's word and apply God's word, God's word brings faith
into our lives. God's word lifts us up above our natural circumstances and causes us to live a life
that we never thought was possible- a life of faith, a life that is supernatural. And so, we just
want to invite you all to live such a kind of life. We've been studying the promise of God in the
Bible and there are many promises and these promises we can receive and apply in our lives
today. The original context of this promise needs to be looked into and from that also we learn
many things. But these promises are available for us as the people of God. Today, we are going
to look at an incident in Exodus chapter 33 and this is very interesting, where the Lord promises
His presence and rest to His people. The context/ background is this where the people have
sinned. They have made these golden calves and they have worshiped these idols and the Lord
says, "Yeah, I'm not going to go, I will give you this land, I will show you this land, but I'm not
going to go with you." And Moses comes before the Lord and he prays this in Exodus 33 and
verse 13 and he says, "Lord, if I’ve found grace in your sight, show me now your way, that I may
know you and that I may find grace in your sight. And consider that this nation is your people.”
And in verse 14, he says the Lord answers and He says, "My presence will go with you and I will
give you rest.” We see Moses responding to that promise and he's saying, "Lord, if your
presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here." And the Lord fulfills that and Lord
responds by saying, "I will do this thing that you have spoken and you have found grace in my
sight and I know you by name." So, we see several things here, the Lord promising His presence,
the Lord promising His rest to His people, the people of Israel. And Moses saying, "Lord, if you
do not go with us, if your presence does not go with us, we do not want." In other words, he's
saying, we don't want to have any part in anything where your presence is not there. We don't
want to have any part in anything where you are not there. And the Lord responds by saying
and in fact Moses goes on to say, Lord, show me your glory, show me who you are and what
you can do, put it on display, show me. And the Lord answers and He says, yes, I will cause my
goodness to pass before you, I will be gracious to you and I will show you my glory but my face
you will not see. So, we see this wonderful promise of God's presence and even as we pray,
may we pray and ask the Lord, ‘Lord may your presence be with us.’ Let's pray, Father, we
thank you for your indwelling presence. Lord, we thank you that you will never leave us never
forsake us. In Christ, we are indeed blessed to have this indwelling presence. Master, we ask for
your tangible presence in our lives. Lord, we pray that you will reveal yourself in these many
ways, the way you did Moses and other people. Show us your glory in life’s circumstances. And
Lord, we want to say if there is any place where you feel that it is not right for us, do not take
us, we don't want to enter into such places where you do not approve of it. We thank you; we
love you; we adore you; we honor you today, in Jesus’ matchless name we pray, Amen.
