Daily Devotional church in Bangalore

Shalom! We continue digging into God's word to understand more about the surety of God's promises. We will take today's scripture from Numbers chapter 23, verse 19, it reads, ‘God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a Son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?’ We read that God will make good His word. Our verse today is a beautiful description that shows the unfailing faithfulness of our God. This verse has a sharp contrast between the unchanging nature of God and the unpredictability of man. As we have been seeing over and over again, like humans, God does not lie or shift His plans arbitrarily. His words carry weight and whatever He says will follow through, the actions do follow. This verse gives us comfort and confidence that those who trust in His promises will see His promise coming to life. There is a clear picture of the immutability of God which means the unchanging nature of God. God does not change and so does His word, His word does not change, it is not subject to change. This shows that our God is perfect in every way and whatever He promises, He will make good His word. This verse also reiterates the fallibility of man and the imperfection of man. Man lies, man changes, man does not do what he promises, he makes even false promises but God is infallible, He is dependable, He cannot make mistakes, He is faultless. What do these characteristics of God show us? It shows us that God is true to His word, God will fulfill what He declares, His word is totally and totally reliable, we can bank our lives on what He says. So, what do we look and hold on to? That God does not lie, He is truth and His truthfulness is a part of who He is. God does not change His mind, none of His promises are subject to change and alteration. God will make good His word and when God promises, He does it and acts on it. They're not empty words but they are guarantees. So, remind yourself that God will make good His word. Even as you are holding on to God's word for whatever need in your life, remember that God will do good His word. Let's pray together, Heavenly Father, we are assured by what you have revealed to us that you will make good your word. We can depend on you, we can rely on you, we know that as we look to you, your word will be fulfilled in our lives, thank you for hearing our prayer, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
