Welcome friends, it is so good to have each one of you back. Let's continue to talk about God's peace and today, we know that there are several things that hinder this peace that you and I can experience. One of the hindrances is worry. Let's read a passage from Matthew chapter 6 verses 25 onwards. I'll read a couple of verses and stop, pick up a few verses in between, and we'll talk about it. ‘Therefore, I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?’ Verse 26, "Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?" And from verse 27, we see the comparison between Solomon and the lilies, and Jesus is letting the people know that God clothes even the lilies beautifully. And in stating all of these things, what God is helping us realize is that He is our ultimate provider. Yes, there are concerns about our present, our future, but when we trust in the Lord, we can rest in knowing that God will take care of all our needs. Now, if we lack faith in God, His promises, His word, we may tend to worry. Worry is dwelling on negative thoughts; worry is being preoccupied with problems. In this passage, we can also consider verse 32, where Jesus says, "For after all these things the Gentiles seek, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things." A very reassuring thought when Jesus said, "Your heavenly Father knows." And that's a reminder for us that God sees us. God knows what we need, and He cares for us, and He will take care of us. As we continue on in verse 33, He encourages us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Jesus is saying that we must focus on his kingdom. He knows what we need, but here's what we need to do, and that is focus on His kingdom. Seek first the kingdom, and whatever it is that we need to live out the purpose of God for our lives, He will provide. Let's cast down our worries, let's trust in God, let's know that He cares for us and let's seek the kingdom of God first. Let's pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you that you care for us, and you're concerned about every detail of our lives. Today, we pray that all worry and anxiety will be uprooted from our hearts and that even as we rest in you, that we will walk in the peace of God. We thank you for doing this for us, in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
