Shalom and welcome to another episode of Living Supernaturally. We are almost at the close of looking at how we can be a blessing. For our devotion today, we are looking at how God is pleased when we become a blessing to others. Hebrews chapter 13, verse 16 reads, ‘But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.’ When we become a blessing to others, it pleases the heart of God. This is a reminder for us to be a blessing to others. It is often very easy for us to get caught up in our own needs and wishes but this verse challenges us to look outward and to recognize the need of others and to act in the way that really brings out the love of God. The beginning of this verse says, ‘do not forget’, so it implies that doing good and sharing with others should be a regular part of our lives, not something we should forget. It shouldn’t be like an afterthought. So, in our lives that maybe busy, we may overlook some opportunities to bless others but this verse challenges us to be intentional about our kindness. The verse also speaks of sacrifices. It says, for with such sacrifice, God is well pleased. Sometimes, being a blessing requires us to give up something. It maybe our resources, our time or sometimes, even our own comfort but these sacrifices are pleasing to God. When we give selflessly, we are reflecting the character of God who gave everything for us. Think about how small acts of kindness can have such a big impact. Whatever it maybe, it maybe sharing a meal, giving a listening ear, it can bring the joy back to the hearts of the people we are blessing and also to our own but it also pleases God. It is a way of living out our faith in real, active and tangible ways. So, challenge yourself to identify one way how you can be a blessing to someone today. Ask yourself, how will I be able to incorporate the practice of doing good and sharing in my daily walk? Perhaps, it is setting sometime each day in a week to serve others, whoever it maybe. We can ask God to make us more aware of the needs of others and to give us a heart willing to bless others. Pray for the courage to make sacrifices that are pleasing to God and live in a way that reflects His love. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you that you are well pleased when we are a blessing to others. May we desire to please your heart at all times. As we feed someone or pray with someone, we know that your heart is pleased. Give us that heart of love that reflects your true character, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
