Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Ps Paul Emmanuel
Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you once again for giving us the opportunity to minister God's word and to spend a few moments in prayer. This week, we've been talking about different aspects of God and faith at work and we'll be wrapping up this week by looking at the topic on inviting God into every task. Colossians chapter 3 and verse 23, ‘Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for human masters.’ It's easy to separate our spiritual life with our daily tasks. We may feel closer to God during prayer, reading His word, worship or even church routines, but once the routine of work begins, meetings, emails, deadlines, responsibilities, it may seem like these moments are disconnected from our faith. Yet the scripture reminds us that whatever we do, we must do it as if unto the Lord. This means no task is too small or insignificant to include God. The first step is cultivating the awareness of God's presence. This can simply begin by saying a small word of prayer or asking the Holy Spirit to guide our conversation, our decision and our action. It means pausing before tasks whether preparing a meal or leading a meeting or helping a neighbor. Such intentionality helps us to resist the temptation to compartmentalize our life and integrate God into every area of our life. Second, inviting God into our task involves aligning our motives. We often work for recognition, success and personal satisfaction. But God reminds us that He wants us to work as if unto the Lord. This means the ultimate audience is God and not people. Whether we're leading a ministry or in the workplace, caring for our family, our goal is to do it with excellence, integrity, and love, knowing that it matters to God. Inviting God into every area of our task changes our perspective. Instead of seeing work as a list of things to do, you begin to see it as an opportunity to partner with Him. This also changes our approach on excellence because we will be working with all our heart doesn't mean striving for perfection out of pressure but offering the best out of a heart of devotion. When your motivation is to honor God rather than simply impress others, it brings freedom. Third, it requires dependence on the Holy Spirit's strength. Many tasks may feel overwhelming and burnout can creep in when we solely rely on our own abilities. Prayer becomes not just a ritual but a lifeline reminding us that we are co-labors with Christ. Finally, inviting God into every task of our life brings joy and gratitude. Even the mundane chores or challenging responsibilities can be reframed as opportunities to serve Him. Over time, this practice transforms not just our work but our heart. Tasks that felt mundane can become meaningful and your day becomes less about getting things done and more about walking with God moment by moment. In this way, each of us, our lives can become an expression of faith lived in the ordinary rhythms of each day life. Let's pray, Father, we thank you for this week and everything that you have been teaching us about work, family and ministry. We pray God that even as we step into the roles that you have for us that we will remember to pause and to look to you and know that you are guiding us, that we can trust in you with all our understanding and lean on you. We thank you for this time, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
