Greetings and thank you once again for the opportunity to come to you today and spend these few moments in God's word and in prayer. We've been emphasizing the call to personal evangelism and this week, we are specifically looking at it as a commission given to us by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. So, you can think about how serious this is and it's a commission that's been given to every believer. He didn't say this work will be done by just a few people, those called to be evangelists, He didn't say any of that. It's a commission given to every person who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ. I want to bring our attention to today to a very familiar passage, we've all heard it many times in Matthew chapter 2, verses 18 to 20, after His resurrection, before His ascension, Jesus said this, He said, ‘all authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Now these were His final words. He said, look, I've done all of this and now all authority has been bestowed on Him, Jesus, heaven and earth and He says, I want you to do something, I want you to go, take this message to all nations, all people groups, all ethnicities, all people everywhere, take this message and make disciples meaning help them become disciples. So, it's a process, they've got to hear the gospel, they've got to hear about someone whom they've not heard yet. Only after the hearing can they believe. So, we need to go and tell them and that begins their journey of becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ and entering into all the things that He's taught us and He said, I want you to do this and I'm with you until the end of the age that means this commission is going to continue till the end of this time period or a technical word for it is dispensation, until the end of this age. I'm with you, empowering you to do this. The one to whom all authority has been given has commissioned us and is with us, as we follow through on His commission. So, think about that! The Lord Jesus has told you, whoever you are, you may be a homemaker, you may be a student in a school or a college, maybe a professional, you may be a business person, you may be the CEO of a company, you may be somebody in some high place, high standing, high position, whatever. We're all different backgrounds, we're all doing different things but all of us as followers of Jesus have been given this commissioned by the Lord Himself saying you go and make disciples. Help people become committed followers of Jesus Christ and He says, I'm with you till the end of this age. The one to whom all authority has been given He's with us helping us to do this. The question is, will we say Lord, I'll obey, I'll do it, I'll say yes to your commission, I'll say yes to what you've told me to do and I'll share Jesus with people. May that grip us, may that passion infuse within us and may we reach people with the gospel. Let's pray, Father, we ask that you'll help us say yes to this commission. Wherever you've placed each one of us, as we interact with people that we will do our part to bring the message of Jesus to them so they too can make the choice to become disciples of Jesus Christ. We thank you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
