Daily Devotional church in Bangalore

Shalom, I believe you are enjoying this teaching on praise and today we will dive a little deeper into what praise is and what it can do for us. Isaiah chapter 61 verse 3, it says, ‘the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.’ In Isaiah chapter 61, there are many promises that God makes to His people and He says that He will uplift them, one of which is that He will give us the garment of praise for a spirit of heaviness. A spirit of heaviness is a spirit of sadness, it's a spirit of gloom, it's a spirit of being weighed down by things in our lives which we are unable to change. It is a spirit of heaviness that comes from all the negative things that we are meditating on, but here is what God is saying, He's saying, that gloom, that sadness, that depression, I am a God who can lift it off and I can clothe you with the garment of praise. Now, God clothes us with the garment of praise, but we have to also put it on. So, when we begin to praise God, it's as if we are cooperating with God and we are clothing ourselves with His praises and all of a sudden our gloom, our sadness begins to move away. So, church, can we make a choice to praise the Lord? Generally, our thoughts lead to our emotions. We feel certain things because of what we have been thinking. If we choose to think on God's greatness and we begin to verbalize it and we begin to praise the Lord, there are many ways to praise the Lord, we can sing unto Him. The scriptures talk about dancing for Him, scriptures talk about playing an instrument for Him, scriptures talk about bowing down before Him, so, if we choose to engage in praise unto the Lord, our sadness will begin to move away. Today, I want us to experience this changing of the garment, from one of gloom to that of praise and joy and God is able to do it for us. Shall we pray together? Heavenly Father, we thank you that you promised that Lord, you will lift us up, you will lift us up from the miry clay and so today by the power of the Holy Spirit, I release that Spirit of joy upon all the listeners. Father God, you clothe us, clothe us O God with the spirit of praise and let the stronghold of the spirit of heaviness be broken off of people, thank you for doing it, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
