Hello and welcome to Living Supernaturally and to this daily devotional, where we take time to read God’s word, meditate on it and live according to it in order to live a supernatural life that He has called us to live. We are looking at 2 Timothy chapter 2, verses 10 onwards, ‘Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him. If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.’ He starts by saying, I endure all things, why? For the sake of the gospel and of others, for the sake of taking this gospel to the elect. Some of the things that Paul endured, we need to enumerate and list it down. He endured ship wreck, danger in his travels, attack from unreasonable men, persecution, imprisonments and physical discomforts and hunger etc. He endured it, patiently went through it so that he might share with the elect, so that they might obtain salvation. His understanding and perspective of the gospel was so different that he was willing to go through hardships for the sake of others, that others might also receive the gospel and enjoy salvation so that their lives and destiny might be changed. How are we today? Do we endure hardships for the sake of others? For the sake of our neighbors, our family members, colleagues, fellow students, are we willing to endure a certain degree of hardship? Maybe sacrifice certain things, maybe go through physical discomfort, are we willing to forgo certain legitimate privileges for the sake of sharing the gospel so that they might be saved? This is a question we need to ask ourselves, are we willing to of this? Paul was willing to do this even to the point of death. He was willing to lay down his life for the sake of brethren. The word of God says, in Him we die, therefore, we live. Through him, we endure and through Him, we will reign. If we deny Him, meaning reject or resist or refuse, He will deny us, but if we are faithless, He remains faithful because He cannot deny Himself, such is the love of God for us. Such is the victory and power of the finished work of Jesus on the cross. Shall we pray, Father, we thank you for the gospel and the reality of heaven and hell, reality of salvation and changed lives and destinies for those who receive it. Like Paul, may we echo and say, yes, we will endure hardships for the sake of saving those who are around us, for the sake of others who need to receive salvation. I pray that you will change our perspective, transform us from the inside out and may we carry that same burden you have for the sake of the world, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
