Greetings! and thank you for the opportunity to come to you today and spend this time with you in prayer and in the word of God. This week, we are taking a few moments each day to reflect on Spirit filled living, what does it mean to live Spirit filled lives and we're drawing insights from three major passages, Romans the eighth chapter, in Colossians, the fifth chapter, in Ephesians chapter five, gleaning some insights from these passages, to highlight what it means to live Spirit filled lives. One of the things we see here in both Romans the eighth chapter and also in Galatians chapter five, is that when we live Spirit filled lives, it means the flesh remains crucified. In Romans chapter eight verse 13, the apostle Paul says, ‘if you live according to the flesh you will die; But if you buy the Spirit, put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.’ So, in contrasting or in highlighting what the Spirit filled life is he is saying, you're going to crucify the deeds of your body by the Holy Spirit or in Galatians chapter 5, verse 24 he says, ‘those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.’ So that is Spirit filled living, that's the context there, he says, Spirit filled living means you crucify the flesh with its affections and desires. So that means by the Holy Spirit, I bring an end to the sinful affections, deeds, and desires of my body and that is a Spirit filled life. Though the body has wrong desires, the body wants to do wrong things, I draw strength of the Holy Spirit and by the Spirit I crucify the deeds, the desires of my body. Now remember the word crucify, crucifixion is not a pleasant thing, it's a painful thing, it's not an easy thing, but it's the empowering of the Holy Spirit that helps us crucify. So, I say, Holy Spirit, help me put an end, bring to death these sinful desires and the sinful deeds of my body. Now Jesus put it like this, He says if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off. If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it off, He's talking about amputation, He is talking about a very painful thing but that's possible by the Holy Spirit, I cut it off, I crucify it and that is Spirit filled living. A Spirit filled person is a person who has crucified his flesh, the wrong desires ad deeds of his flesh by the Holy Spirit. Let's pray, Lord, we ask that you help us to walk in the Spirit, yielded to the Holy Spirit, that by His empowering we bring an end to the wrong desires and deeds of the flesh, of our body, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
