Favor of God - Favored (Daily Devotional)

Welcome everyone. So glad you could join us. We're continuing our study on God's favor. I just want to speak upon each of us today and declare that as a child of God, you are highly favored of the Lord and may the Lord bless you and strengthen you in all that you are doing for Him. Let's read from a scripture and then we will try and unpack the things that are in that particular scripture. So, I want to read for us Psalms chapter five and verse 12, ‘for you, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield.’ This scripture tells us that God will bless the righteous, He will surround him with favor as with the shield. Would we all not want this? To have the shield of God's favor. It means that God covers us, God covers us with His favor, wherever we go, we are favored. We are looked upon with graciousness, with kindness, and favorable things happen for us, that is a shield of favor. But notice it says that God will do this for the righteous. How can you and I be favored and continue to be favored? Remember, God is not a God of partiality, God is a faithful God, God is a just God. But there are ways that you and I can consistently and constantly walk in this favor, it does not have to be moment by moment. So, the things that cause us to remain favorable in the sight of God or in other words favored in the sight of God are when we walk in purity and in truth. There are several scriptures to support that, I won't read it out, but just give us a reference Proverbs chapter 11, verse 27, Proverbs chapter 12, verse 2, Proverbs chapter 14, verse 9; all of these talk about how we must walk right before the Lord, how we must keep the ways of the Lord and that enables us to stand in favor with God at all times. There's another point that I want to bring to us here, as the church of the Lord Jesus, which simply means a community of believers, we can have the favor of God, we can have the favor of God constantly. And we see the early church and the early church had favor, they also had favor with the people and we read about this. How did that happen? They hosted the presence of God. Firstly, let's walk with purity, holiness, righteousness and secondly, as the people of God, let us give priority to the presence of God. Let us give priority to His word. Let us give priority for the power of God to work in us and through us and that is the testimony of the early church. When they did that as a temple of God, they hosted His presence powerfully. We noticed that they ended up having favor not only with God, but also with man. So, remain favored by God at all times and you will see mighty things happening in you and through you. Let's pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you for the opportunity of remaining favored in you. Lord, enable us, oh God, through your Spirit to walk right and to be led by the Spirit, be filled by the Spirit, walk in the Spirit and God thank you for the abundance of favor that you will extend upon us. We worship and honor you, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
