Faith (Daily Devotional)

Hello and welcome to Living Supernaturally, the daily devotion of All People's church. We are so glad that you could be here, that we could look at the word of God together, study and apply the word daily in our lives. Today, we are looking at the gifts of Holy Spirit and the bible has many things to say and we are looking at 1 Corinthians chapter 12, where we are exhorted to not be ignorant about the gifts of the Spirit, to find out what the gifts of the Spirit are, with the intent of walking in them. We understand that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for all and that is what we see in scripture that these gifts are for all. We have this exhortation from scripture, where Paul writes and says, ‘earnestly, desire the best gifts.’ The best gifts (plural) are the gifts that are best used in that particular situation, that take care of that particular challenge or need, those are the best gifts. Paul exhorts us and says, ‘pursue love and desire spiritual gifts.’ The gifts which are many, we can walk in them, these are for all, these instructions are for all believers/ children of God. Today, we are going to look at one gift that is mentioned here, it is the gift of faith. We find this in 1 Corinthains chapter 12, verse 9, it says, ‘to another faith by the same Spirit.’ We are looking at this gift of faith? What is faith? It is the deep conviction that comes upon our hearts and is given by the Holy Spirit. From Romans chapter 10, we see that, ‘faith comes by hearing the word of God.’ As we receive the word of God, we grow in faith and faith develops. Faith is the substance of things that are not yet seen or evidence of things not yet seen. So, that is faith and is different form the gift of faith. This is a kind of faith or great faith for a particular task that requires this great faith and it is an impartation of faith. It is a transmission/ sudden surge of faith that is put into our heart by the Holy Spirit and that is why it is called the gift of faith. So, these gifts don’t work in isolation, it can work in gift packs or it works together. As we study this gift of faith, we see that it is a surge of faith that is given for a believer. Now, maybe there are certain situation or maybe we are facing a challenge that requires great faith to face that situation. So, great faith is required to endure and overcome that particular battle/ situation. So, great faith maybe required to receive the breakthrough in that area and the Holy Spirit releases that to our hearts. It is so wonderful it is for us. So, today if you are facing a mountain or an insurmountable situation/ challenge, why don’t we lean on the Holy Spirit and ask Him to release the gift of faith in us so that we can face, endure and overcome this challenge? Shall we pray? Father, we thank you for the gift of faith that is available for us through your Spirit. We thank you for this gift of the Holy Spirit. We pray today that even as we face those situations and contending for breakthroughs in several areas of our life, we pray for a release of gift of faith in us, that we might face, endure and overcome the challenges that we might be facing, we thank you, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
