Faith (Daily Devotional)

by Ps Ashish Raichur

Greetings and thank you for journeying together this week as we talked about biblical decision making. We looked at several different pillars that help us make decision in life. The last pillar we want to talk about is the pillar of faith which means that while we are considering all the other things that we’ve spoken about during the course of the week, we bringing all that to bear on our decision, we also make our decision from a place of faith in God. The bible teaches us in Proverbs chapter 3, verses 5 and 6, ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.’ Second Corinthains chapter 5, verse 7 says, ‘we walk by faith, not by sight.’ While we bring all these things that we have considered to bear on our decision, we process all the information, look at it with a renewed mind, ultimately every decision we make, we make it trusting God. Having understood what God wants us to do, we say, God, I’m making this decision but I’m trusting you to cause me so that this decision can bear fruit, bless lives and glorify you and you will keep me on your path. I’m trusting in you and depending on you. While we have done all that we should do, our dependance is not on our own brilliance/ intelligence, our dependance is on God, that we as make intentionally God glorifying decisions aligned to the word, led by the Spirit, having done the best we can, we do it trusting God. We walk by faith knowing that God will bless the decision, and the work of our hands, He will order our steps and lead us on forward into greater success, so that is a place of trust. We make decisions trusting God, leaning on God knowing that ultimately our blessing, fruitfulness, success is a gift from God, is a blessing that comes from God and He will make sure that things go well. So, that is how we make bible-based decisions that are God glorifying, honor people and serve people well. Put these things together and use them as you make decision, small and big, as you journey through life. Let’s pray, Father, we ask that you would fill us with your wisdom, help us to make good decisions as we journey through life for ourselves, our families, people that we care about, places where we have to lead, help us to take good decision that glorify you, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
