Hi everyone, welcome back! We are taking sometime to glean truths from the book of Esther. Let’s begin by reading a scripture. We will read from Esther chapter 8, verse 3, ‘Esther again pleaded with the king, falling at his feet and weeping. She begged him to put an end to the evil plan of Haman the Agagite, which he had devised against the Jews.’ This is an inspiring act of Esther, petitioning the king, even crying and pleading to the king to reverse the decision of destroying the Jews. We see that Esther at this point was the queen. She had great authority and influence; everything that the king wanted to give her, she would have got it very easily. However, we see that Esther is keen about her people. She gave attention to the words of Mordecai and she wanted to do something for her people. So, she used her position and her influence for the sake of the people. Even today, when we see God blessing us, opening doors for us, God putting us in places where maybe many other people haven’t been able to go, we must think of God’s kingdom first. It is a great example she has set for us. Instead of thinking of just herself or her family, she had the cause of her people in her heart and she used her position for the sake of their deliverance. Today, are we thinking about God’s kingdom, God’s people and the people that scriptures speak to us about- the poor, needy, sick, those who are seeking help of some sort, can we be those people who will stand up and say that we want to do something to change or turn around the situation that people are going through. Well, Esther was one such person. She didn’t live her life only for herself but she lived her life for a greater cause and today, God has called us for a greater cause. He wants us to step up and use our gifts, talents, anointing, blessings, learning and understanding for His kingdom and for the people that He has put in our care. Can we just pray and ask the Lord to help us do this. We can’t do this in our own strength; we need God’s help and enabling. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, thank you for showing us that we can live for something greater than ourselves. Even as Esther was pleading for the cause of her people, we pray that by the Holy Spirit, you will reveal to each one of us the purpose, that specific group of people we are called to bless. Help us to be able to do this with your strength and grace. We thank you that you will help us, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
