Hi everyone, welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much once again for this opportunity to minister God’s word and spend a few moments in prayer. This week, we have been talking about reconciliation. We looked at the beautiful story of Jacob and Esau and how God reconciled them as brothers. Today, we look at enemies at the table. Mathew chapter 26, verses 20 to 25, ‘When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. And while they were eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.” They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, “Surely you don’t mean me, Lord?” Jesus replied, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me. The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.” Then Judas, the one who would betray him, said, “Surely you don’t mean me, Rabbi?” Jesus answered, “You have said so.”’ How does it feel to sit at the table with your enemies? Would you feel comfortable, would you walk out in disappointment or anger? When we approach the Lord’s table, we must make sure that our relationship with God and people is in right standing. What if our conflict with the brother/ sister, despite our efforts to forgive have gone in vain? The apostle Paul says in Romans chapter 12, verse 18, ‘If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.’ But if a conflict with someone is not resolved and they are not interested in forgiveness or reconciliation, what can you and I do? Can you still participate in the Lord’s table with this broken relationship in your life? Yes! If we truly have done all we can to forgive the person and stretched out our hand for reconciliation, we can partake. After all, let us remember who is present at Jesus’s table. Jesus knew that everyone will abandon Him during His greatest need and trial. One of His disciples would betray Him for money and yet Jesus remained with them. The fact that Jesus loved us while we were still enemies is a very good news for all of us. When the prodigal son returned back, the father didn’t meet him with reluctant grace. The father ran, embraced his son and kissed him. The father put on his best robe and a ring on his finger. That is what each one of us can experience- abundant pardon, plentiful redemption and our cup will overflow. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for your word and your presence in our lives. We pray that you will teach us and continue to lead us to know that you have called us to walk in love with people around us, as far as possible to make reconciliation with one another. We thank you for teaching us and empowering us. We give you all the praise and glory, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
