Shalom and it's wonderful and a delight to have you today to join us for another episode of
Living Supernaturally. Through this week if you've been following, we've been looking at
instructions at God's word where God gives us divine instructions of things that we should not
be doing. So, we titled this as embracing God's nots. We looked at fear not, we looked at fret
not and today, we're looking at the instruction of forsake not. Proverbs chapter 4 verse 2 reads,
‘for I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law’. So, in a world that is full of shifting values
and trends that are fleeting, God calls us to forsake not His Word/ His Law. This command in
Proverbs chapter 4 verse 2 is not an advice but it is a firm instruction to hold fast to the
unchanging word of God. Solomon as he wrote Proverbs is passing down wisdom to all who are
seeking understanding. The verse seems like a part of His heart felt plea for may be His children
or the future generations to hold fast to God's wisdom and instruction. Solomon knew that
God's wisdom leads to life and a blessing while rejecting it leads to trouble and destruction,
some of the verses that we read later on in Proverbs. He has seen firsthand seen what obeying
God means. For him, obedience to God brought about a lot of prosperity and ignoring Him
brought about a lot of ruin that we see later on in his life as he went away from God and His
law. Solomon called God's word in this verse as good doctrine meaning that God's word is
sound, it's reliable, it's beneficial. Solomon as he is urging us to not forsake God's law, he is also
warning us to not ignore wisdom because those who ignore wisdom suffer consequences.
Proverbs chapter 1, verse 7 says, that those who disdain and reject wisdom and instruction are
fools. So, straying away from God's teachings results in foolishness, it can also result in spiritual
blindness, bad decisions and complete regret and this is absolutely relevant in our world today.
Social media, entertainment, different kinds of culture promote self-centered living, moral
relativism and instant gratification. Many people are drawn away from these biblical values
believing that truth is subjective. But the Bible instructs us to stay firm in God's teaching even
when society pushes us toward compromise. When you're making decisions about
relationships, careers and lifestyle, we must ask, is this aligned to God's wisdom and is this
aligned to God's Word rather than simply following trends? God wants us to be faithful to
Biblical truth because when we build our lives on His wisdom, we can gain clarity, we can gain
security and lasting peace. Let's pray together, Heavenly Father, we pray that your word will be
a lamp to our feet, that your the word will lead us in all wisdom, that we will hold fast to your
word, love your word, meditate your word, live by your word. Give us wisdom to hold on to
your word. Thank you that your word is there for us in every walk of life, we ask this in Jesus’
name, Amen.
