Hello everyone, welcome, we are going to take sometime in these series to learn about what the word of God has to say, particularly for students who maybe preparing for their exams. The word of God has a lot of encouragement, it also has instructions that will really aid us in our preparation as well as going through that exam season. So, something that we notice is that students may struggle because of an overload of work and not just that, they may sometimes struggle with things like fear, anxieties, stress and maybe even sleeplessness. Now, the solution for many of these things can be simple but they can also be pretty complex. Depending on what one is going through, they might want to seek help from family, friends or even professionals. In this particular series, we are going to look at some very simple things that will help us keep our trust strong upon the Lord. Today, I want to talk about doing our part. There is a scripture in Proverbs chapter 12, verse 24, which says, ‘The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced labor.’ As the scripture reveals, we see a contrast there between someone who is willing to work hard and someone who is lazy. So, someone who is willing to work hard is called someone who is diligent, someone who is making an earnest effort, a focused effort, they care about the work that has been given to them, the assignment that has been given to them. As we consider this scripture, what we learn is that we can do our part, as far as studying is concerned, it is going to take some time, it is going to take some effort, it is going to take that diligence so to speak for us to be able to do well and even excel in our exams. Hard work has no substitute and while we do our part of what we can, here are some very simple things that we can keep in mind, it is good to do one’s own best and not really compare with others. We can do our best and maybe try to up our own capacity each time. So, challenge yourself to be better this time and next time compared to what you had done earlier. It gives us great confidence to be happy with our accomplishments even if they are small. If we plan to finish studying a set of chapters and we, did it, it is good to congratulate yourself about that achievement that you made. All these will help us maintain a positive mindset while we prepare for our exams. We talked about working hard but the Bible also teaches us to work smart. There is a scripture in Ecclesiastes chapter 10, verse 10 which simply says, ‘If the ax is dull, and one does not sharpen the edge, then he must use more strength; But wisdom brings success.’ We see here that sometimes we can keep making the same kind of effort without thinking about it but it may not produce results. We may need to work smarter and working smarter means understanding the issues more thoroughly, it means working on those difficult areas for each one of us individually they are different, but when we recognize that we need to put extra attention, we put attention there or developing new skills. Even as we talk about all these things, I really pray that God will strengthen each one of us. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you for the instruction in your word. Thank you that even as we put in our best, you are the God who blesses the work of our hands. I pray and speak a blessing on all those who are studying, preparing for their exams, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
