Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Ps Ashish Raichur

Greetings! and thank you for the opportunity to come to you today and spend a few moments in reflecting from God's word and praying together with you. This week, as we said earlier, is a week where we want to reflect on what it means to be after God's own heart. We are looking at that scripture from 1 Samuel chapter 13, verse 14 and also from Acts chapter 13, verse 22, both these references that talk about David being a man after God's own heart. I would like to read Acts chapter 13, verse 22 from the Message Bible, it says about David, son of Jesse, ‘he is a man whose heart beats to my heart, a man who will do what I tell him.’ So, to be a person after God's own heart, means my heart desires what He desires. It's almost like our heartbeats are in sync, it's not necessarily the rhythm of the heart, but it's talking about that the desires of the heart are in sync. That means I desire, or He desires. So, to be a person after God's own heart, it means that I desire what God desires, that means in every situation, whatever we're confronted with, there will be of course, many options, many choices we could make, many ways we could go, many things we could do, but we say God, what do you desire in this situation? What is your heart in this matter? What do you desire to do here? whatever that situation might be and when we live according to the desires of His heart, then we are people after God's own heart. How about pausing and reflecting in different situations and say, God, what is the desire of your heart in this situation? What is the desire of your heart in this matter? Because when my heart desires what He desires, I become a person after God's own heart, try it out, live that way. You're going to desire what He desires so that you can be a person after God's own heart. Let's pray, father we ask that in every situation, we will pause and ask, what do you desire? That our heart will desire what you desire, that we will be people after your own heart, where our hearts beat with yours, we thank you, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
