Desire (Daily Devotional)

by Ps Nancy Ramya

Hello friends, thank you for joining in as we study from God’s word. I wanted to look at our growth and our growth by the word of God. So, we are talking about the same subject even in the subsequent sessions, but before we do that, I wanted to bring our attention to Jeremiah chapter 29 and verse 13, it says, ‘And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.’ When it comes to growing in God, growing through the word, growing through prayer, growing in any other way, we need to have the initiative and, in this verse, it is clear that we must seek God. When we seek Him, that we find Him; in other words, we have to put in effort to knowing God in a deeper way and to develop our knowledge of God. Again, the rest of the verse says, search for me with all your heart, we find God when we search for Him. One way in which we can search for God is in the scriptures. We know that the Lord Jesus is the word Himself, the word became flesh, so, the word is Jesus and when we study the word, we are studying the nature of our God, we are studying the Lord Jesus. When the word dwells in us, it is as if the Lord is dwelling within us. Also, the apostle Peter, he encourages us and says, ‘grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.’ This is something which is a responsibility for every believer to grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. In order for us to know more about the Lord Jesus, the word, let us take time in the word of God. As we read scriptures, as we spend time in scriptures and study the scriptures, we will expand our understanding, we will deepen our revelation, and this will lead to, us living life the Jesus way. In 1 John chapter 4 and verse 17, we are told that we are to live like the Lord Jesus, and we are in this world just as He was. So, for us to live out that life in our character, live out that life in the power of God, we must meditate in God’s word, and I want to encourage us to make that effort, as Jeremiah chapter 29 and verse 13 says, seek and search. Take time in the word, take time in scripture and that will enable us to know more of God and to grow in God. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, we pray for your grace to pursue you in a stronger way, we pray for a deeper understanding of the word of God. Establish us in your word, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
