Shalom and welcome to another episode of the devotional. We are glad that you could tune in with us to meditate on God's word. We're looking into the treasures of God's word that shows us the richness of His love. Today, we are going to be looking at His love, His delightful love. Zephaniah chapter 3, verse 17 reads this way ‘for the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With His love, He will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.’ A common sight that you will see in homes where there is a new baby that's born, is the way that the mother cradles the baby in her arms and sings over with delight over the baby. She looks at the baby and sing songs of joy and looks delightfully at her. This demonstrates the very joy and the very contentment that she has in the presence of her child. Just like this example, we see in today's scripture, the way that God delights over His children. This verse reminds us that God takes special delight in His children. This is what he says in the verse, ‘He takes delight in you with gladness.’ He does it with so much of joy when He looks at you, He enjoys just experiencing your presence and this delight is simply because we are His, not because of anything we've done, not because of who we are or what we bring or accomplishments that we've had, His delight is just because we are His creation. When mothers sing over their babies, it's not that they deserve it, but they do it without anything in return and that brings delight to their hearts and to their souls and the same goes with our savior. Sometimes we may think, are we really worthy to experience this despite the mistakes that we may have made or sometimes we feel unloved or rejected, but this is what scripture shows us, it gives us comfort to know that God delights in us just like a mother delight in her baby. Expressing delight, shows God's joy, you show your joy when you delight in something and this is translated, it says He will rejoice over you with singing, He rejoices over you with a shout of joy. This verse just demonstrates the way that He delights in us because we are inherently precious to Him. We are worthy of honor, that's the way He sees us today. So today, as you go through your day, imagine the Lord looking at you with delight, looking at you with joy, with rejoicing, with songs and shouts of joy, He's expressing His desire and His love over you. What a beautiful image to understand and to believe. Let's pray, Heavenly Father, we are so glad of the way that you have shown your delight over us. We picture the way that you are looking down onto us with rejoicing, with delight and joy in your eyes, thank you because we are precious in your sight. Lord, we engage and we experience your love for us today. May we truly feel your delight and your joy, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
