Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Ps Paul Emmanuel
Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to minister God’s word and to spend a few moments in prayer. This week, we will be gaining insights from the book of Colossians. Colossians chapter 1, verses 9 and 10, ‘For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.’ This portion of Colossians records Paul’s prayer and passion for the believers at Colosse. Colossians chapter 1, verses 9 through 14, we find the apostle Paul who prays for the believers at Colosse and challenges them to live a life worthy of the Lord. This prayer is not limited to the Colossians alone. We believe that it is for all of us as believers in Christ. What would you like people to say about you? Maybe you’re smart, good looking and that you’re important. But Paul prays to God that He will fill us with the knowledge of His will, why? So that we might live a life worthy of the Lord. Can you imagine someone saying this about you? I know that he or she lives a life worthy of the Lord! Can you imagine anything greater that could ever be said about you? Living a life worthy of the Lord essentially means living in a way that reflects your faith and aligns with God’s will, purposes and values. It is about demonstrating the grace and love we have received through your action and character, rather than striving to earn it without God’s favor. This involves walking in integrity, serving others in humility and growing in the knowledge of God. We are called to live a life worthy of the Lord. It is something we desire yet we can’t do on our own. God knows this, that is why He sent His son, Jesus and Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to empower us to live a life worthy of the Lord. Hence, we don’t have any excuses. Through the Holy Spirit, we have everything we need to walk in this holiness. The Holy Spirit guides us and gives us whatever we need to live according to God’s will. How does a life worthy of the Lord look like? It is fruitful. We can’t produce any spiritual fruit on our own but when we abide in God, we become fruitful by God’s grace. It is thankful, we acknowledge our weaknesses and bring it to God who blesses us and in return gives us the power. It is maturity and grace, the more we spend time in God, the more we grow in the knowledge of God and then without even noticing, we will be living a life worthy of the Lord, all by God’s grace. Living in Christ and for Christ is not a one-time event. Living a life worthy of the Lord is a life that comes from a heart of faith in Christ and love for Christ. It is a lifestyle and an ongoing process. It comes from having spiritual wisdom and understanding regarding the things of God that the Spirit of God extends to each one of us and the Lord is the one who looks at our heart and blesses us.

Let us pray, Father, we want to thank you for your word and the Holy Spirit that empowers us to live a life worthy of the Lord. We pray that as believers and as your children, that we will train ourselves/ discipline ourselves to learn to walk in accordance to your will. Thank you for the Holy Spirit that is in us, empowering us to fulfill this in our lives, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
