Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to spend a few moments in prayer and in God’s word. Today, we are going to look at clothe yourselves with kindness. Ephesians chapter 4, verse 32 says, ‘be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.’ Paul reminded Titus in Titus chapter 3, that at one time they were foolish and ungodly, disobedient, deceived and enslaved with all kinds of passions and pleasures. That was probably a painful reminder. Paul also would have insisted that we are included in that description too but then, the kindness and love of God, our Savior appeared and now through God’s power and because of Jesus, we can be transformed. Kindness involves being courteous, generous and showing genuine care for others. Often, we take time to choose our clothes and match what we are going to wear with our plans for the day. Our clothes to one degree or another are important to us to express our personality and says a lot about us. God has demonstrated His loving kindness to us. He has taken our sin-stained garments and clothed us with salvation, wrapping us in a robe of His righteousness. When we didn’t deserve this kind of kindness, God had a plan to reconcile us to Himself. There is nothing that we could do to save ourselves. We receive this garment of forgiveness and salvation by God’s grace alone. The flow of God’s love towards us is overwhelming that we should be called the children of God. Surely then, our desire, the response of our heart is that our behavior reflects the heavenly Father. This is our responsibility to desire to live a godly life, to live in obedience to the Lord and to do what pleases Him. There will be many occasions when we will know that we have a choice to either be kind or unkind. We can be kind with our words but more so with our actions. When we make every effort to do this among ourselves, we are clothing ourselves with this attribute. It is not our own strength but we are coworking by the grace and power of His Holy Spirit. When we are willing, God enables grace upon grace. Kindness is listed as one of the fruits of the Spirit. It is not always an inherent action but a virtue to develop, to express God’s love by our actions. The story of Tabitha of Joppa in the book of Acts who was a dressmaker or a seamstress, she made clothes to provide an income for herself but Tabitha also gave away clothes that she made. She clothed others and in doing so, she clothed herself with kindness. Tabitha was a godly woman who was loved and honored in her community. How thankful we can be that God comes to us with kindness in His heart and in His hands. We need a God who is kind. What’s more- our nations, our communities and our families constantly need people who are willing to use their energy to be kind to one another.

Let us pray, Father, we thank you for your word and for exhorting us to clothe ourselves in kindness. Enable us to walk in kindness to the people around us. We thank you that we can depend on your Holy Spirit. We give you all the praise and glory, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
