Shalom, it's a pleasure to come to you with God's word, God's wonderful word that we can meditate. We have been looking at pleasing the Lord, looking at different scriptures, that shows of how God declares truths about how we can please Him. Today, we are looking at another aspect of how we can please God, it is through our celebrative praise. Reading from Psalm chapter 69, verse 30-31, ‘I will praise the name of God with a song and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or bull, which has horns and hooves.’ Through this verse we see that God is pleased with our praise. He's pleased with our songs of worship, our thanksgiving to Him. It doesn't matter how we sing, whether we can hold a tune, whether we can remember the words, God looks at the heart, He does not look at the outward appearance, He looks at the depths of our heart. He is pleased with our song, with our praises, with our worship of Him. God is completely self-sufficient, it's not something that He needs. He does not need to thrive out from our worship but worshiping Him is beneficial for us and we know that however He does deserve it, He deserves all the praise that you and I can give Him. I'm sure you praise people who you love and admire, maybe someone that you really look up to, you praise them, you admire them and due fully so, how much more should we be praising and thanking and worshiping God for all that He has done for us? What does this word praise mean? It means to express good things, to say something nice, to say something admirable about the one we are praising. These are synonyms to admire, to worship, to exalt. Praise also means to thank, to joyfully thank, to be grateful, to celebrate the goodness and the grace of God. Praise is something that is an appropriate response to God, that is something that He is worthy of, that is something that is do unto Him. Sometimes we teach our children to be thankful and we may get upset when they aren't grateful, in the same way we extend our praise and thanksgiving to God. God teaches us to praise Him because that is the right response for Him because it is just good for us. God commands praise because He wants us to glorify Him for all that He has done. If you have children, what a beautiful thing it is when they come in and praise you, when they come in and say things about you, it warms your heart, it helps you understand their closeness to you, and it pleases your heart. How much more should we look into doing that with God? When we act out of our love and acknowledgement to God, when we act out of our praise to God, He is pleased, He finds pleasure in it and when He finds pleasure in it, our relationship with Him is much more enhanced. So, today take some time off to sing a song of praise, to give a prayer of thanksgiving, to worship Him with a new song because that clearly and completely praises God more than a sacrifice, more than any ritual that you and I can do today. Let's pray together, Heavenly Father, we praise you for your word that shows us that you delight in the praises of your people, that you welcome our praise and our worship. Lord, we understand that your goodness and grace know no bounds and we take this time intentionally to give you praise, to sing that song of worship to you, to give you a poem of thanksgiving. Lord, be pleased with our offering of praise. Thank you for these opportunities where we can sing to you, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
