Shalom and thank you for joining us for our last episode in this series of blessings in the everyday. We trust that this has been a blessing for you and you have been able to reflect on these everyday blessings. Today, we are going to look at one of the greatest blessings each of us have received as believers- the blessing of salvation. Almost everything comes by effort. Hard work earns a salary, good behavior earns a good name and achievements bring about recognition. But here in this verse today as we are going to read, Paul reminds us that our salvation is not earned but was freely given. Ephesians chapter 2, verses 8 to 9, ‘For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.’ Our salvation is the gift of God to each one of us. It is the gift of grace. We cannot pay for it, cannot perform for it or even prove ourselves worthy of it. If we could, we would probably boast about what we did but God removes all boasting so that salvation points us only to His goodness. The word ‘grace’ means God’s unmerited favor or kindness towards us. Grace is there when we are helpless, when we are broken and lost. We did not find God; He came looking for us in Christ. So, our salvation is not about our religious performance but it is about the grace and the mercy of our God. It is the greatest blessing because it secures us to eternity and gives each one of us a new identity as His children. While salvation is a gift from God, it is received through faith. Faith is trusting in Jesus, in who He is and what He has done for us on the cross. Faith is like opening our hands to receive what God has already provided for us. It is not about how strong our faith is but about how strong the one we trust in is. This blessing of salvation is not just about going to heaven one day but it transforms our life in the here and now. Because of salvation, you and I are forgiven because there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus. Because of His salvation, we are adopted into His family as His children. Because of His salvation, we are secure in His love. Because of His salvation, each of us are empowered to live victorious lives. Salvation blesses us with peace, with freedom from guilt and even the joy of knowing that we are loved unconditionally. So, how grateful and thankful should we be for this gift of salvation? We could never earn it because we do not deserve it. May we live each day in gratitude, walking in the freedom knowing that we are saved and we are His children. Let’s thank God together, Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of salvation. We thank you that you came after us. We thank you that you did not want any one of us to perish but that we would have eternal life. We thank you for what you have done on the cross and for all that you have done for us today and the provision we have in you. May we live lives that are grateful and may we bring about the truth of this blessing and this gift of salvation to others as well. Thank you for all that you have done for us. We are truly grateful and indebted, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
