Shalom and welcome to this time where we look into God’ word and take some time to pray. We hope and trust that you are blessed by these devotionals. Through this entire series, we have been looking and touching upon the blessings in our everyday. One of the things we are going to look at today is the blessing of peace. Peace again is one of the most precious blessings of God. In a world where there is so much of chaos and noise, there is conflict, uncertainty and true peace every often feels out of range. Many try to find it in their possessions, maybe in their success or even their temporary escapes but they are all just temporary gains. The peace Jesus gives us is different. It is not the absence of problems but the assurance of His presence in the midst of anything we maybe going through. It is the stillness of the heart that comes from knowing that He is in control no matter what storms may assail us. Jesus reminds us in John chapter 14, verse 27, ‘Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.’ Jesus calls this peace ‘my peace’ which means it is a gift that He freely gives those who follow Him. He spoke these words to His disciples just before His crucifixion knowing that they would face fear, confusion and even persecution, He gave them this lasting gift- His peace. Unlike fleeting calm or temporary relief, the peace of God is a deep assurance that comes from His presence. Jesus says, I do not give to you as the world gives. The world’s idea of peace is usually the absence of conflict or the presence of comfort. But Jesus offers something much deeper, peace that remains even in the middle of storms. His peace is not dependent on our circumstances but is in His victory and in His promises. The verse says, ‘do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.’ With this peace, He gives us an invitation to courage. Jesus doesn’t deny that we will face trouble, but He equips us to stand unshaken. Fear doesn’t have to control us when the peace of Christ reigns within us. The blessing of peace is not about our lives being easy but about having the daily presence of God with us. This peace guards our heart when anxiety knocks and strengthens us when fear may come up and it keeps us steady when issues of life may remain uncertain. Peace is not something we have to chase; it is something we receive when we trust Jesus. His peace fills the gap that worry leaves behind and reminds us that He is always in control. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you for the peace that you give, the peace that comes from you, peace the world cannot give. Even as we live this life, we pray that we receive what you have for us and that our hearts will be strong to look to you knowing that you are in control no matter where our lives may take us. We pray that you will center us in your peace, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
