Hello and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you once again for giving us this opportunity to come together, ponder on God’s word and spend a few moments in prayer. Today, we are talking about the blessing of the witnesses. Acts chapter 1, verses 21 through 26, ‘“Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.” And they proposed two: Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. And they prayed and said, “You, O Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which of these two You have chosen to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.” And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles.’ The apostle Peter explains that the believers need to identify one person to replace Judas. He makes it clear that the key qualification for becoming one of the twelve apostles is that one has to be a witness of Jesus, throughout Jesus’ ministry on earth, this person has to be a reliable witness. Adding Matthias will restore the number of apostles to 12. Further, the apostles understand that good witnesses are needed to tell others about Jesus. Witnesses are needed to bring the message about the reality of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection and fulfill the mission that God has given them. As Christians, we must align our purpose with those of God and being a blessing among the nations is a powerful mandate. The presence of God comes with His blessing and this blessing is fulfilled in Jesus. It calls us to celebrate the goodness, creativity, and beauty that we encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ. It is to participate in the redemptive work of God calling all things good, bringing hope, forgiveness, and healing. This is what it means to be a blessing among the nations. God has called us to be a witness, we are called to be blessed, to be a blessing to the nation and to the nations. What a wonderful, amazing privilege this is for us! Let us pray, Father, we thank you, for the call that you have for us that we are witnesses of your grace and your mercy, we are witnesses of your goodness upon our lives. We pray that even as we continue to witness to people, may the blessings of the Lord fall upon each one of us, wherever we are, let us witness your blessings. Lord, we pray that you will empower and lead us to fulfill the tasks that you have given us to glorify your name, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
