Shalom and thank you once again for joining us. Today, we have reached the end of our episode on being a blessing and we wrap up our episode with learning about blessing of giving. Acts chapter 20, verse 35 reads, ‘In all things I have shown you that by so toiling one must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ We see a context of this verse; we see Paul addressing the elders of the church at Ephesus and making a reference of what Jesus said. Although this phrase, ‘it is more blessed to give than to receive’ is not something that is recorded in the gospel, but this is an example of what Jesus said that was probably passed down orally until Luke recorded this in the book of Acts. This shows that Jesus taught that there is blessing when we give, there is blessing in giving. Giving really aligns to what Jesus did and as we looked at His life is the greatest example of generosity and selflessness. Jesus Himself said that the Son of man didn’t come to be served but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many. It shows how Jesus’ mission on earth was centered on serving others and giving of Himself completely. When we give, we follow in the footsteps of Christ. We reflect His character; we show out His love in practical ways. Our generosity becomes that expression of the love of God. We demonstrate to the world what it really means to be transformed by the gospel. So, giving is just not an act of charity but it is a way to live out our faith and to witness to others the love of Christ. In our everyday life, let’s move away from being really caught up and steeped in our own needs and desires but let’s look outward, whether it be our possessions, our recognition, our comfort, let what Jesus has taught us to be a blessing comes not from getting but from giving. So, when we give, we are really showing out the heart of God and who the ultimate giver is, He gave us His life, His grace and His Son for our salvation. So, lets participate in God’s work and bless others as we give. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, thank you for what you have taught us that it is more blessed to give. I pray that you will give us willing hearts to give from whatever you have blessed us with and that we will be willing givers. Thank you for teaching us this truth. Help us to follow your purpose by being a blessing to others, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
