Shalom and welcome to another episode of Living Supernaturally. We hope you are being blessed by our devotional series this week. We have been focusing on what it means to be a blessing, looking into scripture to understand aspects of how to be a blessing. In today’s episode, we are looking at how we are blessed to be a blessing. Genesis chapter 12, verse 2 reads, ‘I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. ’ This verse in Genesis chapter 12, we see that the Lord gives Abraham an instruction or a command to obey which is followed by a promise. The Lord in this verse tells Abraham to leave his country and all that is familiar to him, his people, his father’s household and go to the land that God would show him. This instruction was followed by a promise which says, ‘I will bless you.’ God says to Abraham, ‘and you will be a blessing and all the people on earth will be blessed through you.’ This reminds us that everything we have received from God is ultimately to be used for the benefit of others as we saw yesterday. The blessing of God originates from His initiative. It is not something that we have earned out of anything but it comes because of His grace and His love. Abraham didn’t seek God but God rather chose Abraham. When God blesses us, it transforms our lives, it deepens our faith, it strengthens our character and it fills us with joy and gratitude. This personal transformation is essential because it prepares us to bless others. So, how can we practice this principle? The first thing is to really recognize and identify what God has placed inside of us. Consider your talents, resources, relationships and opportunities; reflect on how these blessings have enriched your life. Secondly, we look for practical ways where we can share these blessings. This could involve giving your time, sharing your talents, praying for someone in need, giving somebody an encouraging word or even offering financial support. Generosity is a real tangible expression of the way that we can bless others. We can even use our words to bless others, speaking encouragement, praying for them, even at times of discomfort, bringing about a word of comfort, having a listening ear- these are some of the significant ways we can bless others. When we are blessed to be a blessing, we are serving others with the love of Christ. Genesis chapter 12, verse 2 reminds us that God’s blessing comes with a purpose. As we receive the blessings of God, let’s be intentional once again in sharing them, becoming a channel of His love and grace. Let’s take time to embody this principle of being blessed to be a blessing. Let’s pray together, thank you Father for blessing us with so many gifts. Thank you that you desire for us to give back and to bless others. May we use this principle, teach us to recognize what you have put into us and use it to bless others. Help us as we do so, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
