Hi everyone, welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity once again to meditate on God’s word and spend few moments in prayer. John chapter 21, verses 10 through 14, ‘Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.” So, Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn. Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.’ This story about Jesus standing on the beach is always an inspiration. It is interesting that at the beginning of Jesus’ ministry when He called His disciples, they had been fishing all night but had caught nothing. He told them to go back out and fish again. They took the risk and caught more fish than their boat could even handle. For the next three years, these fishermen followed and walked with Jesus, learning what it means to be fishers of men instead. Then after Jesus was crucified and had risen from the grave, He told them to meet Him in Galilee where they had first met Him. While waiting for Him there, they must have had sometime on their hands and didn’t know what else to do. So, they went back to basics, they went fishing! That night, however, they caught nothing. The next morning, Jesus called out from the shore telling them to cast their nets on the other side of the boat. Jesus made a strange suggestion to His disciples. There was no logical reason why fishing in the morning light would be better than fishing at night. There was no reason why fishing on one side of the boat would be better than the other side. It wasn’t even directly a test of trust in Jesus because they didn’t know that it was Jesus until they caught the fish. We don’t know exactly why they didn’t know it was Jesus. Perhaps, they were preoccupied with their failure or because they couldn’t see Him clearly through the morning mist of the lake. The difference is not the right and the left but between working with and without divine guidance. It is a miracle, certainly, but yet neither the fisherman nor his boat nor his fishing tackle were ignored, they were all used. Let us learn that we will see and experience miracles even as we do the practical. Notice that Jesus had already had fish on the fire but He invited them to bring their fish as well. Jesus also invites us to bring what He has given us so that we can join with Him in building His Kingdom here on earth. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for this time, we thank you for your grace and your abundance that you always give us more than we can ask, think or imagine. We pray that you will teach us to be obedient to your word and your guidance. Even as we do what you have called us to do, give us the wisdom and the strength, give us the anointing that we may continue to be fruitful in everything that we do to glorify your name, we thank you, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
