Daily Devotional church in Bangalore
by Ps Ashish Raichur

Greetings! and thank you for giving this opportunity to be able to come to you, spend this time with you today, in the word of God and prayer. We’re reflecting this week on being after God's heart. What does it mean? And what would it look like in everyday life, to be a person after God's own heart? We've been looking at Acts chapter 13, verse 22 where the bible talks about David, son of Jesse, being a man after God's own heart, and we read that verse from the Passion translation, it puts it like this, ‘He's a man who always pursues my heart and will accomplish all that I have destined him to do.’ So, I want to say this, that another facet of being after God's own heart, is to be always aligned to His heart, in line, in sync with His heart, and not to as opposed to wandering away, drifting away, going out of line with His heart. So, if you and I want to be people after God's own heart, we have to consciously pray and say God align my heart to yours, keep it in line. If my heart goes out this way, or goes out that way, God realign it, bring it back into alignment so that I can pursue your heart. As you go through life and go through various situations of life, experiences of life and all the things we're going through, if we are not careful, our heart can go out of alignment with God's heart, it can drift away, it can wander away from being aligned to God's heart, and sometimes it takes only a small little deviation to begin that journey. But we must be careful, on a daily basis, constantly saying God, keep my heart aligned to yours, keep my heart in line with yours. Help me to pursue your heart, stay aligned to your heart so that I can be a person after your heart. What must we do? Constantly ask God to check, examine our hearts, in case we've started wandering away, our steps are going away from His word, from His truth that He has revealed to us, say God examine me and get my heart back, we need to readjust, we need to make adjustments. Let go of things that are causing our heart to deviate from being aligned to His heart, whether it's things that we desire, things that we're thinking about, things that we may feel inclined towards, whatever it is, God take it out, take it out, take it out, let my heart be aligned to your heart, and that's how we can be people after God's own heart. So, how do we do this practically? Make sure your heart stays aligned to the heart of God, pursue His heart always in every situation, keep it aligned and you'll be a person after God's own heart. Let’s pray, Father, we asked that you'll help us stay aligned to your heart, that through all of life, there are pulls and pressures, keep our hearts aligned to yours, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
