Hi everyone. We've been learning from the life of Abraham and today, let’s consider the fact that our God is a promise keeper. He is not a God who promises and forgets about His promises. The bible tells us that our God doesn’t lie, He doesn’t speak something and repent of it. He speaks what He intends to say and His word is powerful; His word will be fulfilled in all of our lives. In the life of Abraham and Sarah, God had promised that they would bear a child of promise and the time came for the fulfillment of that promise. Let’s read from Genesis chapter 21, verses 1 and 2, ‘And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken. For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.’ We see here that God fulfilled His promise to Sarah and the scripture says that He did for Sarah as He had promised. We know that both Abraham and Sarah knew that they were facing an impossibility, there was no way that they could bear a child but the scriptures tell us that God did for Sarah what He promised. Despite the impossibility, God did what He promised and that is something very important for us to hold on to. If God has promised, God’ word/ His promises, He will fulfill it. We know that in Christ Jesus, we are promised salvation, protection, healing, deliverance, provision, these are the promise of God for us and the way God fulfilled His promise to Sarah, He will fulfill His promises to us. We know that the bible tells us that all the promises of God are yes and amen and as believers, we must hold on to the promises of God and know that He is able to fulfill what He has promised over us. In this scripture, we also notice that God did what He had promised at the appointed time. There was the right time for the son of promise to come. In the same way, we are holding on to God’s promises and we may wonder if God has forgotten about His promises to us but the bible teaches us about the ‘Kairos’ time or the appointed time of God and it is at that time that the promise will be fulfilled. Let’s remind ourselves that no matter how hard it has been holding on to God’s promise or how long it has been or how challenging it is, let’s trust that if God could do the impossible for Abraham and Sarah, how much more will He do that for us through our Lord Jesus Christ. He will fulfill the promise and He will do it at the appointed time. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you for reminding us that you fulfilled your promise to Sarah. She conceived by faith and the impossible happened in her life. Even today, for each one of us, we pray that you will do the impossible. You are a promise keeper. You will do what you have spoken and we trust and hold on to that. We thank you for journeying with us. We commit ourselves into your hands, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
