Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much once again for this opportunity to minister God's word and spend a few moments in prayer. We’ve come to the last day of this week and we will wrap up this week by talking about a heart of worship. John chapter 4, verses 22 and 23, ‘the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.’ The word ‘worship’ comes from the root word worth and ship which is combined together, the act of displaying God’s worth. In the verses above, Jesus tells us that God the Father desires authentic kind of worship, that which comes not merely from our mouth but also from our heart and spirit. He is looking for genuine worship which only flows from a personal, intimate relationship with Him and not just knowledge of Him. Worship has the ability to change the things that we see, as it shifts our focus from our problems towards God. In the book of psalms, David spoke and sang about many of his struggles he was facing. Sometimes, he was crying out to God in agony. But regardless how dire the situation was, even in the darkest moments of life, David always chose to worship. David’ authentic worship towards God came from His heart and a lifestyle of worship. He was honest about his emotions and the struggles that he was facing. Rather than trying to be careful with God, he opened up to God. David brought raw, heartfelt, honest worship that God recognizes him as a man after God’s own heart. Although David openly lamented, complained and cried to God, God saw this as a desire to know Him more. Why? Because David valued and treasured God above all things. Despite his moments of immense suffering, David understood God’s greatness, holiness, character and love towards him will never change. David encountered God for himself and God knew him personally. He had seen God bring breakthroughs in his life, time and time again and his unwavering confidence on God’s goodness. What an amazing picture of David’s confidence in the revelation of God. Worship reflects our revelation of God in our lives. True Christian worship addresses God not merely as a creator but also as the very one who is our Father and beloved of our souls. When we surrender and yield our hearts to God, we find freedom in His presence, a freedom like no other. With this freedom, we find peace to navigate the challenges we may face. God is looking for genuine worship which comes from our heart. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for teaching us today from the example of David that through all the challenges and difficulties that he faced, yet you called him a man after your own heart, David looked to you. Lord, we pray that you will enable us to be the same that through the challenges and seasons of our life, our heart will be set on you, that we will learn to worship you and give you praise and glory, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
