Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much once again for this opportunity to minister God's word and spend a few moments in prayer. Today, we will talk about a heart of faithfulness. Mathew chapter 25, verse 21, ‘His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’’ A heart of faithfulness is a heart that is loyal, steadfast and true to one’s word. It is a virtue that involves commitment, reliability and trust. Following God’s commandments even when it is difficult, loving others even when it is difficult. Faithfulness is considered a fruit of the Spirit in the bible and it is an essential quality for all believers. It is a trait that we can develop by walking in the Spirit and cooperating with God. Sometimes, we say this, I will believe it only when I see it. Do we ever find ourselves thinking this way? It is easy to slip into a mindset of doubt and cynicism. We live in a broken world and we may have gone through painful experiences and situations that cause us to lose trust over people and others. For this reason, faithfulness, the fruit of the Spirit can be a challenging trait to possess. Faithfulness comes from a place of trust and loyalty. Faithfulness requires us to always submit to God. It is one thing to simply believe in Jesus but another to put faith in Him. When we are truly faithful to God, it shapes the way we live. Psalm chapter 4, verse 8, ‘in peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.’ King David maybe brooding again about the rebellion of his son, Absalom, not to mention the many enemies that are surrounding him. This psalm gives us a heightened sense of desperation. We can almost see David twisting and turning and messing up the covers of his bed. Here again, he calls out to God, pleading for mercy. In the middle of the psalm, David offers some sound advice during times of struggles and in darkness. Searching one’s heart and asking for forgiveness for any sins that we may have done. Then, as often happens in the psalms, David moves from turmoil and agony towards trust. He does this by deliberating turning his mind towards God’s faithfulness and His provision. David’s struggles are not fully resolves in this psalm but in reaffirming His trust in God, he sees a way forward. He ends with the declaration about peaceful sleep and completely letting go and surrendering to God’s faithfulness. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for your word, thank you that your word says that you are a faithful God, you reward those who are faithful. We pray that you will enable in us this heart of faithfulness in everything that we do, that your name will be glorified. Thank you for blessing us, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
