Working Of Miracles (Daily Devotional)

Greetings and thank you so much for joining us today on this daily devotional. We are talking about personal evangelism and specifically how the Holy Spirit empowers us to be witnesses for Jesus. We’ve been looking at how through the gifts of the Holy Spirit or the manifestations of the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to be witnesses for Jesus. We communicate the message of Jesus, we talk to people about Jesus and then the Holy Spirit empowers us, manifesting or expressing His power through us in supernatural ways so that people can encounter Jesus. So, we co labor with the Spirit of God. We are witnesses of Jesus by sharing the message and by letting the Holy Spirit expresses Himself through us or reveal His power through us so people can encounter Jesus. We’ve talked about different ways- words of wisdom, words of knowledge, gifts of healings and today, we talk about the working of miracles. This is listed as one of the nine gifts in 1 Corinthians chapter 12. The working of miracles is God doing something supernatural to meet the needs of people. You see in the ministry of Jesus, He turned water to wine, He multiplied five loaves and fish to feed the multitudes, He calmed the wind and waves, there was a time where He found a coin in the mouth of a fish to pay taxes. We come to the book of Acts and we see other kinds of miracles. For instance, Paul in Acts chapter 19, he prayed over handkerchiefs and they were taken to people who were sick and demon possessed, they were healed, miracles were being performed. The same miracle working Holy Spirit is empowering us today to meet the needs of people in supernatural ways so they can encounter the presence of Jesus Christ. So, as we share the gospel, we also are open to the Holy Spirit expressing Himself through us in this manner. So, as we talk to people and they say I have this need, I am going through a financial problem, I am going through a problem in the family relationships or problem at the workplace, got this problem of debt or a complex situation I’ve got to come out of, so many different things we face. So, as we bring the message of Jesus, we also allow the Holy Spirit to reveal Himself through us by working miracles in the lives of people and all it takes is a prayer. I pray for this need and whatever the need and we invite the Holy Spirit to work a miracle for this person. It is not our responsibility to work the miracle, it is His responsibility. Our responsibility is to share about Jesus and pray for that need. You just pray, Lord, we invite you into this situation and need, work a miracle and do something supernatural, do something which only you can do for this person so that they will know that what we’ve told them about Jesus is true and real and as we do that, the Holy Spirit comes in and manifests Himself and they encounter Jesus Christ. So, remember, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to be His witnesses and one of the ways, the empowering manifests is through the working of miracles. Let’s ask God to do miracles, something that meets the needs of people so that they will know the message you have shared with them is true and real and they will turn to Jesus Christ. As we practice personal evangelism, let’s invite the Holy Spirit to accompany us by His mighty works. Let’s pray, Lord, we ask that you will help us reach out and pray for people in their needs, to meet their needs, to work miracles in their lives. As they experience your Spirit, may their turn their hearts to Jesus, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
