Greetings and thank you for the opportunity to come to you today and spend these few moments in the word of God and in prayer. This week, we are continuing our journey on personal evangelism, soul winning and witnessing. We're looking at it from the believer perspective and specifically and how the Holy Spirit empowers us in the practice of personal evangelism, that the Holy Spirit is with us. Jesus said that when the Holy Spirit comes upon us, we'll receive power, enabling and empowering us to be His witnesses. One of the ways He does this is by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, what we refer to as the gifts of the Spirit in 1 Corinthians chapter 12. The Bible tells us there in 1 Corinthians chapter 12, verse 7, ‘the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.’ The manifestation or the expression of the presence and power of the Holy Spirit is given to all believers. So, these nine gifts which belong to the Holy Spirit are really an expression of His presence and power. His presence and power are expressed through all and each one of these nine gifts. It says here in verse 7 that these expressions, these manifestations are given to each one, are given to all believers for the common good and for the good of people. That's you and I as believers can desire, you're supposed to desire and can expect the expressions of the Holy Spirit in the practice of personal evangelism. Of course, there are other dimensions and aspects to the manifestation of the Spirit but we're talking about in the practice of personal evangelism, we can expect the manifestations or expressions of the Holy Spirit. I want to talk about one of them each day this week. One, the word of wisdom. Jesus said in Matthew chapter 10, verses 18 and 20, He told His apostles, He said, ‘look when you are going out there preaching the gospel, you'll be brought before governors and kings as a testimony to them and before the Gentiles, they will deliver you up but do not worry how or what you shall speak for it will be given to you in that hour, what you should speak. For it is not you who speak but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.’ So, think about this, when we are put into different situations when we have to speak up and share Jesus, Jesus said, don't worry, the Holy Spirit will give you the words that you need to speak, words of wisdom, He will give you the right words that you should speak as you bear witness for Jesus Christ. It's not you who speak but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you. One of the ways He expresses this is through words of wisdom, that means He'll give you the right words, the right thing to say as you're talking to somebody. Whether it's another individual, it's another group of people, whether you're brought as a person, you got to testify, you're under pressure, whatever the situation might be, the Holy Spirit will give you words of wisdom, the right thing to say as you present your testimony for Jesus Christ. Stephen is a great example as he had to stand before those religious leaders. The Bible says they could not resist the wisdom by which he spoke. Here was Stephen, probably an uneducated man, we don't know how much of schooling he had but they couldn't resist the wisdom. Words of wisdom were coming out of his life, will come out of you and me. So, in the practice of personal evangelism, the Holy Spirit empowers us, giving us the right words to say, at the right time- words of wisdom. Let's pray, Holy Spirit, we ask that you'll help us depend on you, as we share Jesus with people, as we bear witness to Jesus Christ, let words of wisdom flow through us, just saying the right things at the right time, to the right people, that'll impact them and point them to Jesus. We thank you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
