Words Of Knowledge (Daily Devotional)

Greetings and thank you so much for joining us today, as we continue our devotional this week on the theme of personal evangelism but really focusing on the empowering of the Holy Spirit on our lives in the practice of personal evangelism, soul winning and of telling ithers about Jesus Christ. We are talking about how the Holy Spirit empowers us. We said that the Holy Spirit through His gifts, what we call the gifts of the Spirit empowers us, manifests Himself through us as we share Jesus with people. Today, I want to bring our attention to one for those nine gifts which is the gift of the word of knowledge. The word of knowledge is talking about something that is presently happening or has transpired in the lives of people. The word of knowledge is a piece of information and through words of knowledge, we can impact people’s lives. A classic example is that in John chapter 4, where Jesus was talking to this woman in the well of Samaria. He was having this conversation and He began by talking about water. He said, I can give you water which you will never thirst again and she said, tell me where can I find this and she started talking about religious things and then Jesus spoke about something that happened and was happening in her life at that time. He said, go call your husband. She said, I don’t have any husband. Jesus said, yes you said it right, because you’ve had five husbands and the man that you’re living with now is not your husband. That shook her up, so much so that she said, you’re a prophet. Jesus continued the conversation and she went back to her village and said, come and see a man who has told me everything I have ever done and the people marveled and came out to listen to Jesus. So, not only was her life affected by the word of knowledge but her whole village. What was that word of knowledge? It was one point/ area/ struggle that she was having that Jesus called out, her past and her present. So, through a word of knowledge, sometimes the Holy Spirit prompts you to say, as you’re talking to people and calling out something that is going on in their life, that simple word of knowledge can impact them so much because you put your finger on that one thing that they really need at that moment. So, the Holy Spirit gives us words of knowledge. As we are communicating Jesus, He is empowering us and sometimes, He tells us talk to that person about this or that or this thing that is going on and you begin to talk to them about it. It is just a simple conversation but it is really putting a finger on something that is hurting them. The bible tells us that the Holy Spirit is called the finger of God because He can pinpoint the very thing going on in the lives of people. So, as we share Jesus with people, remember the Holy Spirit, the finger of God is empowering us. Through words of knowledge, He helps us to touch on the very points of needs in people’ lives and that opens their hearts to receiving the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is how we are empowered in the practice of personal evangelism. Let’s pray, Lord, we ask that you will help us receive words of knowledge, speak the very things that people need the hear, their lives will be touched and opened to receiving Jesus Christ, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
