Winning Souls Is Wise (Daily Devotional)

Greetings and thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to journey with you through this week, as we’ve been talking about personal evangelism, just rediscovering something that seems to have been lost in the church and reigniting our passion for souls. Try to understand the seriousness, the urgency, the eternal consequence, and the importance of sharing Jesus with people. As we wrap this week up, I want to bring our attention to the words given to the prophet Daniel, in Daniel chapter 12, verses 2 and 3, and the angel Gabriel speaking to him said this, ‘And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever.’ Daniel is being given these words and he is saying, I want you to understand that there is coming a time when all of this will be over and people will be brought to life and some are going to enter into everlasting life and some into everlasting contempt/ destruction. The people who turn others to righteousness and the saving grace of Jesus Christ, (he doesn’t use the word saving grace but that is what he is talking about, bring them to a place of salvation in God.) Those who turn many to righteousness, they will shine like the stars forever and ever. He refers to them as those who are wise, they will be wise. Winning souls is wise. It is showing us that we are looking at something beyond our own world. We are looking at eternity, the eternal consequences and recognizing that people are either going to go into everlasting life or destruction and us bringing the message of Jesus is going to change the course of their eternal destiny and we are wise when we engage in turning people to righteousness. It is a wise thing to do because he who wins souls is wise and they will shine like stars in the kingdom of God. Let’s do that! Even if people mock us, laugh at us this day, know that in eternity, we are going to shine like stars, it is going to be a glorious time. Let’s pray, Father, we ask that this passion for souls will grip our hearts. Drop holy fire on us, the fire of Pentecost, the fire of the Holy Spirit igniting within us a passion for souls. Open our hearts and minds to recognize the call that you’ve given to us and help us to do this, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
